Well, at about round #95, I noticed a crack in the top of the thin section between the grip and the buttstock. The carbon that cracked was about 1/32” thick - I had sanded almost all the way through and there was essentially no material left. No worries, easy fix. Add more carbon, sand smooth...
Any updates on this?
I have a sub 5lb scoped 6.5 CM that I’m thinking about putting a brake on. The recoil is snappy, but not bad - I’m more interested in controlling the muzzle rise. For that, the top ports seem to make sense, just interested in how they actually work out.
What did you do to lengthen the mag area? Mine is a short action, but I’m maxed out with 143’s, and would like to be able to load the 147’s a little longer.
Here’s my hunter in 6.5 Creedmoor. The barrel is chopped to 18”, and I made a carbon fiber stock that fits me like a glove. I’m contemplating putting an SWFA 3-9 on it, but the overall weight and balance is so nice with the SWFA ultralight.
How do you like those Spuhr rings? I think they are my best option for some lightweight and low rings, as they don’t make the TPS ones anymore and the APA are always out of stock.
However, I’ve see @Formidilosus say he’s seen some of the Spuhr ring caps crack. Any other options for 0.750ish...
I actually just came across the thread referenced:

Not looking good…
Agreed on the outer posts being solid - would make it actually usable on 4x in the timber.
@gr8fuldoug Any word on real availability and country of manufacture?
Just saw the GPO Centuri scopes posted by @gr8fuldoug
One of the models is a 4-16x44:https://cameralandny.com/shop/german-precision-optics-centuri-4-16x44i-super-compact-mil-ffp-rc450/a6350fd0-d4d2-013c-6256-00163e90e196?variation=3708177
The super compact length is not at all a benefit for...
I didn’t - they took to long to offer the barefoot steel toe last and I need a pair of boots sooner. They are available now, so whenever my cheap intermediate pair wear out, they are next.
I have a 4 lb 15 oz scoped Kimber in 6.5 Creedmoor. I’m not an experienced long range shooter, but I really like it. I definitely find spotting my shots much harder than with a heavier rifle, but that seems to be the only drawback so far, and for a 400-500 and under gun, I’m not worried about...
I think it was Honda that had some self-adhesive tape that was coated with something spicy. You would wrap it like wire loom to keep everything underneath from being chewed on. I’ve used it a few times and never had any issues, but didn’t have severe mice problems.
Can you get a picture? I’ve read that the backcountry’s overhang the Kimber action in quite a few reviews, all highly negative reviews. I fine with aesthetics being off, but wasn’t sure how much they overhang.
Absolutely! You could definitely just do the buttstock section, or just the butt and grip section, and mate it to the inletting and forend of a factory stock.
Polymer is not the easiest to bond to, but with a little planning I think you’ll be fine. I bonded in the inletting section from a...
Just saw that the barefoot steel toe last is now added to their custom page. The delay was too long for me, so I got a different pair, but excited to try the Jim Greens for my next pair.
What exactly is the anti-bind feature on this action/bolt? Is it the Teflon pad in the second picture, or what looks like a screw in the first picture?
@Formidilosus Any chance you could take a few pictures of the “anti-bind” feature?
