Kind of interesting. John Lusk shot this water buffalo through the heart at what appeared to be very close range with a 750 grain setup and it still took 3 minutes to die. Those things are just tough. Seems like people just think it's unethical that Chris Bee kept flinging arrows but IMO it was...
I don't get it. First shot looked good then ethically you should keep shooting until the animal dies to put it out of its misery - even if it doesn't make for great video.
I think I misunderstood - I do exactly what @ljalberta does. Compact spotter goes in the outer zip pocket and tripod goes strapped to the pack with its feet in the little pouch thing.
I shot the Halos last year after having nothing but problems with Nockturnals. No problems with the Halos yet and the fit is about the same as the Nockturnals. I'd recommend using a piece of paper bag to keep them securely in the arrow - that goes for both Nockturnals and Halos.
I went into the draw with 5 points for a SW district and am kind of hoping I don't draw. If I do I'm going to try and make it work but I already have a pretty full fall.
I remember listening to Remi Warren talk about this on Rogan's podcast. Sorrrrta makes sense for buffalo because they aren't going to see coyotes as a threat, but it sounds like a terrible idea for antelope and a great way to commit die.
Dear lord those comments are brutal. Didn't realize "gut shots" result in an elk taking exactly zero steps and dying before you can finish the ABC song.
