If I have 20lbs or more in a pack, I like to have a frame. Can't speak for the other small frame packs, but I use our Crossfire(23L) from ALPS. It fits my Rival Micro hang-on from Hawk and 4 Helium sticks nicely, carries it great.
Photos are the Hawk Helium Apex platform(it's actually inside...
Have used several, but haven't seen anyone mention Bushnell or Browning yet so fyi. Also, the photo/video quality on all the brands is plenty, in my opinion, so that has never been a decider for me.
Bushnell has 30 days free then $10/mo for 2000 photos/mo. Or $15/mo for unlimited photo/video...
I use a rifle cover, usually less than 1/2 a pound, and slide the rifle between pack and frame. Rifle sticks up a bit but you can use your rain cover and keep your hands free.
Not a MR, but this should still work using the lashing system on the frame. I go between the pack and the frame, built in gun boot on this one can go on any side of the pack, but I like it how the picture shows.
You might look at picking up a detachable rifle boot, it should be able to mount...
It will vary a little of course, but +10-15 degrees from the advertised rating is the rule of thumb for comfort range on most bags. There may have been an ISO test temperature range on the tag when you bought the bag. That will generally have a comfort range on it which is more helpful...
Had a great opening day in MO over sunflowers. Shy of a limit for me, but had the kids out and couldn't ask for better weather. Dove poppers are sure hard to beat.
Not sure if someone mentioned it, but a small foldable saw is always handy. If you can, getting in there before season and picking your tree(s) to do a little trimming is ideal.
ALPS OutdoorZ has 20% off for the Rokslide folks till February. Code is ROK20. Plenty of options, if you have any...
He very well could have lived, but could very likely have decreased antler size from last year. He's also probably avoiding that area as much as possible, so if you're not getting summer photos of him don't get too discouraged. You can find stories of wounded bucks taking up residence in rural...
The renegade X dry bags work very well for me on the shelf just like you described. 6 days solo with the 3800 would honestly be a bit of a stretch for me personally, but folks definitely make it happen no problem.
