Tikka T3 lite, older model. Winchester brass (not the greatest, but it was a gun show great price), 200gr ELDX, REM LRM primers, and RL17 produced low deviation, good accuracy, and excellent down range performance on both deer species and a cow elk.
I did an OTC hunt in WY back in 2018 when I first moved to MT. There were very few spots of public land in that area. It was literally a round robin on the public between trucks that week. My son and I doubled up that first day. It was everything people make the hunts out to be. Get out there...
You’ll find them more in the sage than the grasslands, but check every spot you can. They’re my favorite critters to chase outside of upland/waterfowl with my dog. I actually feel guilty taking away some bird hunting to chase them, but they’re delicious, and we’re my dream animal growing up in...
Anyone of those choices, minus the F150. For full transparency, I own and drive a 2014 F150 with the 5.0. It’s got 127k on it, and I’ve owned it since 2018/50k. I’ve had every imaginable problem that’s common with those trucks. I’ve put just over 21k in it since the warranty ran out at 100k in...
3x for my hunting rounds, after that it goes into the practice pile until the 10th fire. Then it goes into the scrap bucket. I do agree that inspection after each fire is key to longevity.
Lots of good choices, I’ll add SG Ammo as a place to try and find them, besides the usual Midway USA, Brownell’s, etc. Maybe even time to consider reloading for that caliber. It’s one of my favorites to reload for, I’m using 200gr Hornady ELD-X for mule deer and elk.
I can only speak from my previous career path. The travel part wasn’t worth missing birthdays, anniversaries, sports, etc. However, I do get to watch my oldest go to college debt free all the way through doctorate. It’s a give and take, and at least he understands the sacrifices that were made...
Moved here to MT back in 2018, and retired from Uncle Sam in 2021. Still don’t understand why I didn’t find this forum sooner. I primarily hunt upland with my lab, and mule deer for the table. I’m also a pronghorn addict when I draw tags. I’m also a member of a non-profit that provides advocacy...
