WTS Zermatt Origin Prefit barrel I picked up a while back. Brux blank, 8" twist, medium Palma contour, 18" length with 5/8"-24 muzzle threads Chambered by Southern precision rifles. Steel barrel help
As already said, do your research by looking at contour charts of whatever barrel manufacturer you’re looking to use. Not all their contours are equivalent..for example and Bartlein 3 is close to a Brux, Kreiger, Shilen 4. A Bartlein 3b is more like a 5 from other makers.. I would want 5/8”-24... -

Should I have my barrel shortened for suppressor?
Anything over .625” could be threaded 5/8”-24, but the standard recommendation is that you want a .050” shoulder left after threading, which would require at least .725” muzzle diameter. This minimum shoulder is the advice given by many rifle smiths, and Thunderbeast arms... -

Tikka UPR Love
Those do seem like handy rifles for multi purpose use. It appears Tikka might have discontinued the stainless variety, as I don’t see any for sale..only blued with a tan stock. Thats a Nice stick for sure.. -

Should I have my barrel shortened for suppressor?
I wouldn’t want a carry/hunting rifle with more than 24-25” overall barrel length. My suppressors are 6-7” long, so all my rifles have been chopped and threaded at no more than 18”. I could probably live with a 20” barrel plus 6” of can, but can’t imagine packing around a full length barrel with... -

I’ve had the brass deflecting off windage turret issue with an SWFA SS 3-15 mounted on a Tikka CTR . I ended up swapping out the scope. Here‘s some reading on removing and capping windage turrets on SS scopes…... -

T3 Lite vs T3x CTR weight difference
I’m a big fan of the CTR barrel profile. Heavy enough for proper 5/8” muzzle threads, and to shoot a decent string before it heats way up when target shooting but not overly heavy. For a suppressed hunting rig a CTR, chopped down to 17” is pretty nice. I have one like this in 6.5cm. If the 10... -

It’s already been said but I’ll agree that I wouldn’t even think of buying a rem 700 with intent to have it trued and rebarreled any more. If I had one sitting around, maybe. But it doesn’t make sense to sink several hundred into one when you could buy a custom action for 7-900$. I love... -

SWFA 3-9X42 vs SWFA 6X
I own/have owned a lot of SS scopes: 1-4, 6x,10x, 3-15 in the “fixed style series” 1-6, 3-9, 5-20 in the HD series I like all of them. only issue I’ve ever had, is with an SS 3-15 on a tikka CTR running seekins low rings. Ejected brass would hit windage turret and fall back into the action... -

Tikka youth build
I like that build. I did something similar but cheaper for my son: t3 lite SS in 243, I’m a compact stock with vertical grip, 1/2” muzzle threads at 18” with a 5/8” adapter to run a lightweight Ti can. It works great but I’ll eventually swap the barrel to something like yours, a 6cm in 3bish... -

Any reason not to cut .223 back to 16.5”?
As already said, it will seem a lot louder to the shooter than with a full length barrel. I have a tikka lite cut back to 16.5” and threaded, for suppressed use only. I’ve fired it a few times unsuppressed, and wouldn’t want to use it that way often. But I hate Shooting any rifle un-muffled...
