Recently missed a caribou on a hunt of a lifetime. What caused the miss?

Missed a Maine Moose once. Big sob. Got home, disgusted, put the gun away and didn't look at it for two years. Brought it out a couple years ago and the scope was shooting 8" high at 100. Verified zero before the hunt but not after several hours of travel to the camp. I've listened carefully...

Tikka 223 (bolt) or Henry LR Express 223/556 (lever)?

Was wondering about that. That's too bad. Puts it in the same category as my Browning take down.

Tikka 223 (bolt) or Henry LR Express 223/556 (lever)?

I did not know about this Henry... Good luck with your choice. My Tikka in 223 shoots 5.56 fine. And it's my go to in the safe after last seasons performance. I will be looking for the Henry now.

What do you do for a living? How can you help?

I'm a software engineer in his twilight of a very long career. Retirement comes in early 26. Never had much of an interest in working on computers 'after work' but would be willing to help if someone here needed it.

"My Garmin In Reach" Saved My Bacon Today

Was about to write those exact words. Dead mans lookout above Redfeather Colorado. That was cold and way before Garmin. OP, I too have an Inreach and have owned Spot. Glad it helped you. Thanks for sharing the story.

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

That's the stuff I shot a deer and a cow elk with last season. Been reloading alot of 223 but theirs performed well on both paper and animals.

What caused the Rokslide shift to smallest caliber and cartridges?

I think there's a shift from, my 30 caliber rifle shoots 1 moa all day long, makes big holes, and I don't need to shoot it much to prove it (thank God). To, my rifle shoots 1 moa all day long, makes big holes, and I shoot it all day long. It isn't expensive either. The advantage you gain as a...

The do it all self-defense pistol

Carried one 1911 or another for many years. It got to the point where I hated the weight and bulk so was leaving them home. You'll want a gun that you can shoot well and don't mind carrying. The latter idea is that it will always go with you. I bought a Glock 19 a little over 20 years ago that...
