You might reach out to Dave at https://coloradogundogs.com/
He takes dogs for a few months, then when you take your dog back, you are welcome to show up on Saturdays to run your dog for a nominal fee. Dave is a super nice guy and close enough to Denver (West Gate Road of Rocky Flats). We...
Thanks all for the good discussion. Hunting the same field another guy is working might be a topic for a different discussion and may be based on local tradition/etiquette. I've done a fair amount of bird hunting, but all in one or two regions with the same 4-5 guys who don't do it, so this...
I was hunting walk-in access fields in eastern Colorado with my dog when a station wagon with two younger guys in orange slowed way down as they drove past the field I was in. They may have briefly looked at me, but seemed to be mostly focused on the edge of the road. I was a little...
As a follow-up, I did end up putting scales on my mule and made a sheath. The scales are 1/8" G10 with .04" green liners and the sheath is .08" Holstex. I used 6-32 stainless button heads I had on hand and made some standoffs out of stainless rod to hold everything together. Total material...
Do you need those little pads on the side or full scales? I'm not aware of either available, but you might have better luck getting the smaller ones made, or make 'em yourself.
Thanks, Feanor. I looked at the AEB-L but the edge retention scared me away. If, however, I like the mule pattern and the AEB-L is still available, I'll probably grab one to compare with the K294.
Do you have any experience with AEB-L? There's been times where I was annoyed I had to stop...
Thanks all, for the good feedback. I fell into the mule hole and decided to invest in one to try. From what I can tell, in general, folks like the Magnacut because it's very stainless and reaches near premium non-stainless steel attributes for wear and toughness. The problem is that the...
Good to know they can perform. And thanks Sndmn for the pics. It helps to see the shape compared to others, specifically the Ridge Belt.
Do you guys worry about replaceability/collectability at all? Other than buying the production version, I'd be concerned I find something I like, but not...
Hi All - Does anyone use a Spyderco Mule Team as your go-to hunting knife? I'm not looking at any particular steel, but I do like the idea that some exotics have been used and, if you can find them, can be reasonably priced.
I am most interested in the size and shape of the Mule Team as your...
Hi All - I split my time between northern Colorado (80%) and northern Wyoming (20%). I grew up hunting WY deer, moved to mostly upland birds in my mid-20s and early 30s, and now I'm slowly shifting my focus to bigger game again.
I've been buying WY points for 5-6 years and intend to keep...
