    300 AAC BLK Subsonic

My thoughts are the killing mechanism of subsonic has nothing really to do with ft. Lbs of energy. As a matter of fact I rarely concern myself with it. Yes I would guess a 2” broad head would be as effective, probably more in delivering a quick death, but by how much? Realistically even if...

    300 AAC BLK Subsonic

The load I’m using is pellet gun quiet. So significantly less sound. I don’t disagree with the loss of terminal performance, but inside of 100 yards it’s pretty easy to place the bullet exactly where it needs to be. I generally use supers, but I have one property thats only 30 acres, has...

    300 AAC BLK Subsonic

I can’t say that I’ve noticed a difference. Realistically the only thing different between my 2 setups is essentially twist rate. 1-7 vs 1-10. I was pleasantly surprised that the 1-10 howa stabilized the 190’s, I expected to have to use the 175(?) sub x. But at that point I had planned...

    300 AAC BLK Subsonic

I’ve made several one shot kills from 30-130, as a matter of fact I’ve never needed a follow up shot. As far as these 2 bucks if I remember correctly these were 35-40 yards and the other was roughly 80 or so. It seems like as long as the animal isn’t completely on edge before the shot, they...

Sold Want to buy AR-15 barrel - .204 Ruger chambering

Any particular reason you’re looking for .204? I was going to go that route but the astoundingly small amount of components and ammo made me change my mind.

    300 AAC BLK Subsonic

Here’s a few more deer taken with sub rounds out of .308 and .300 BLK. Just this weekend me and a friend were shooting and making hits at 400 yards. At 300 we were making hits with boring regularity. My current favorite sub gun is howa barreled action 16.25 .308, Stockys carbon stock 190...

    300 AAC BLK Subsonic

Subsonic have their place, I have a property I can hunt that’s in town and I use subs there. I’ve personally taken around 10-15 deer with subs and they’re very effective and efficient killers if used properly. I wouldn’t have a problem using them out of my current system out to 200 yards, not...

    Colorado wolves released today

Hopefully these beautiful animals, majestic beautiful animals don’t make it very long before dying of natural causes. I hate this, and it shouldn’t be up to a bunch of yuppies to decide on this stuff.

    Frontal shot on whitetails

I’ve pulled off a handful of frontal shots with a rifle and a couple with a bow. I’ve never had a bad result from doing so. But I’m not a fan of doing it with deep penetrating rifle rounds, I hate getting into the guts.

    Proud of my daughters

Thanks fellas, I’ve been lurking here for a long, long time and a member on LRH for years. Just last night I took my youngest out. We were going to take a stand down. I spotted a bedded buck about 200 yards through the woods. I explained to her how quiet and careful we had to be to put a...

    Proud of my daughters

Just wanted to do a little bragging again on my daughters. My youngest 6, and oldest 8, have both got to fill tags this year. Took them out for youth season and the both got does. Both dropped, with perfect shots from the 6.5-284. Interesting thing about that hunt was the configuration of the...
