Why Attend a Long-Range Shooting Course?

You didn't spell that right. Its FANGer. :)

How much money after everything is paid for?

We looked at it very seriously. However, we ultimately decided against it due to my personal experiences growing up.

How much money after everything is paid for?

Out of curiosity, I checked our grocery spend. For the last 3 months we averaged $267.33/month which would be roughly $9/day for 2 people (assumed 30 day month). I don't know what my wife eats during the day, probably nothing since she usually only drinks coffee and eats supper, but I normally...

How much money after everything is paid for?

Thank you. We have sacrificed so much that it has become our lives. It is "what we do". My wife works an enormous amount. She works from 7am until 6 PM every week day, we eat supper and then she goes back and works until midnight most nights and most weekends. (She is WFH most of the time)...

How much money after everything is paid for?

Being this is the internet, no one knows if I am being truthful or not but.... Out of curiosity, I checked our bank statements. Between 6/5/24 and 9/5/24 my wife and I saved $23,856/month beyond our HSA and 401k contributions (maxed out). Everything we don't spend during the month using our...

Adjusting parallax on Leupold fixed parallax scope.

I have only done it on an old Trijicon Accupoint scope, just to see if it would work. It has an identical design. You should be able to put a strap wrench on the end with the red lines, and unscrew the retaining portion. Then carefully unscrew/tighten with a spanner (I used a metal scale that...

Adjusting parallax on Leupold fixed parallax scope.

In my experience (hunting, not target shooting), the biggest advantage of adjusting the parallax for use on a rimfire is that you can focus the image at higher magnifications and closer ranges. If you are only going to be shooting at 3X or 4X most of the time when hunting (like me), you won't...

    Mechanical and Civil Engineering

I'm a mechanical (in the SE US) and work in R&D testing for a manufacturing company. I have also worked as a Manufacturing Engineer/Manager in automotive. If I were starting over again right now, I would be focusing on power generation/distribution and not automotive manufacturing (my starting...

    .22/.22 Mag Rifles

I have T1X in .22 LR. I really, really like it. I don't understand why they don't make one in .22 Mag. I have actually contemplated buying one in .17HMR and rebarreling it to .22 Mag but I know, as soon as I do, they will off at factory one. I also have contemplated the getting a T1X and...

For what it is worth, you should do research on British gun forums about Sportsmatch rings.

    Sportsmatch T035C (For Tikka T1x)

I have seen a couple and one of them happened to someone I trust, so I went with something else. The design does seem to have a fairly thin cross section where the failures I have seen have happened. The DNZ rings are much thicker there. Of course, cross sectional area isn't as important as...

    Sportsmatch T035C (For Tikka T1x)

I have read about issues and seen pictures of Talley rings breaking. I haven't with the DNZ. The rings are noticeably more beefy than Talley rings in the area where the Talley rings break. They are definitely not as attractive. My T1X fell off a chest high platform I was using and the scope...

    Sportsmatch T035C (For Tikka T1x)

They are definitely not the same height. I was not able to find clamp on rings that would work for both T1x and T3X at the same centerline height. I went with DNZ Tikka rings on both and they have held great so far. They aren't the prettiest, but they work, which is what I was wanting.

Maven RS1.2 Review (updated Jan. 21)

I was wrong. I could have sworn the 6X was .06, but it is .07. Here is a link to an old Optics Talk thread that has all the SWFA reticle measurements: SWFA reticle subtensions.

Sightron S-TAC 3-16X42 FFP Mil experience

If you didn't like the 3-15 SWFA, you definitely won't like the STAC. You can still get the Bushnell LRHS with the G2H reticle from GAP. When I emailed and asked them, they said that they still had quite a few of them. If you get to see the Maven, definitely let me know your opinion as a...

Sightron S-TAC 3-16X42 FFP Mil experience

Both. The RS1.2 2.5-15X44 variant. I think the original RS1 only came in MOA. The Mil reticle looks much better done to me.

Sightron S-TAC 3-16X42 FFP Mil experience

I have a lot of trouble with fine reticles when there is a cluttered/mottled/dark background as well. I have tried both the SWFA 3-15 and the Sightron 3-16, Sightron- The reticle was so fine that I could only make out the hash marks at 8X or greater in anything other than very bright light and...

Trijicon 3-9x40 Accupoint vs 3-9x40 Credo

I haven't tried the 3-9 Accupoint, just the 5-20X50 (and a 1-4X24 with the triangle reticle that I used to have, it was so nice that is why my brother bought the 5-20X50 and has left it and his rifle with me while he is out of state). The specs say the Credo has better eye relief and someone on...
