I’ve had the most success with rattling. Make as much noise as you can, from a location where you have a good view of your down wind side. Or hunt with a partner, have him positioned about 100 yards down wind from the calling location.

The Adirondacks in northern New York offer lots of public land, and lots of elbow room. There are some monsters roaming those ridges, but you’ll work for them. Lots of camping opportunities, as well as very affordable lodging.

My dream hunt is Saskatchewan whitetail. Lots of 6 day hunts from various outfitters are priced at $6000. Pre COVID those hunts were $4500. Of course there will be travel and gratuity expenses on top of that.
