    Close call today

When we bought our house the lint trap on the drier had a small burn mark on it. The previous owners must have not been paying attention too close. I will sometimes forget to clean it after every load and my wife gets on me about it from time to time. Now I sometimes check it when in the laundry...

    Fire starting

I have the ferro rod, storm proof matches, and lighters in my pack. I normally only hunt somewhere within a mile or so of a road but it wouldnt take much to be in a bad spot and no cell reception. I was thinking I was prepared but might want to add some kind of firestarter and also practice in...

    Close call today

Glad to hear that you made it home in time, no one was hurt, and mostly only smoke damage. Hopefully this lesson will be learned by your kids for the rest of their lives

What to do with my old savage axis .30-06

My vote is option 3: when I was young I had the chance to shoot my dad's shotgun. He still used it when I moved from a 20 gauge youth to a 12 gauge so I didn't get his. However, the experience of just shooting my dad's gun was a moment to cherish. I felt it made the couple hunts I used it more...

    Don't underestimate old guy strength

I agree with you on the tendons and cartilage. I overexercised and stayed in amazing shape in my early 20s. Problem was that I exercised or was playing sports in college 3-5 hours a day 6-7 days a week with minimal rest. It was a blast but now at only 32 my knees hurt walking up and down stairs...

I may have trashed my bow today!

I broke my d-loop last year but luckily it was in the first half of my draw so not a ton of pull yet. I will second the wrist sling as that saved my bow hitting the ground

    Wolves in CO gone wild

My sympathy is for the ranchers who have to deal with the mess that they adamantly opposed. If this is just a handful I can't imagine the mess when they add more!

    Your go to Broadheads!?

Started with Montec G5 but was having issues with groups. Later learned that was more the older bow I started with and my inexperience. I then moved on to Slick Trick Grizz Trick with grouped better. I now have newer bow and use the Slick Trick Viper Trick which group the best and just about...

    First Elk - Thank You

My FIL and BIL did that on accident. They can start applying again in 2 years. But my FIL will likely not be able to draw a bull tag as he will be too far behind in points. He was really upset when he screwed that up as that was likely his only shot. My BIL is young enough that he will have a chance
