    143gr ELD-X Unreliable?

From our group running ELDx: (meaning I have seen the wounds personally) 6.5 PRC: 3x Kudu 250-375yds 4x Impala 60-505 yds 3x Whitetail 40-180 yds 6.5 CM: 1x Kudu 465 yds 1x Impala 65 yds 2x Pronghorn 225-310 yds 9x Whitetail 30-210 yds I’m sure there are more. All rounds have performed as...

    Tikka T3x 30-06 - what 6 or 6.5 ?

It’s my dad’s rifle, and it’s wearing a YHM Resonator. Great suppressors, but I would absolutely go with the Scythe Ti that you mentioned. I picked one up and it has definitely become my preferred can. Velocity is just under 2600 with 178gr ELDX. Velocity loss was as Deere Man described, just...

    Tikka T3x 30-06 - what 6 or 6.5 ?

Cut to 18” and suppress. It makes the 30-06 into a mild shooting rifle.

Care for blued/wood stocked rifles on tough hunts?

I have a minimal cleaning kit that comes along during bad weather, but mostly just oil beforehand and dry and oil after.

    Silencerco Scythe TI review

So is the conclusion that it’s not necessary to run SilencerCo end caps and thread adapters? After running the Scythe on a 6.5 Grendel AR, I’m ready to run it on my do-all 11.5” 5.56! So I’m in the market for a 1/2x28 mount, but the SilencerCo ones are $$$!

Who else hunts the west with a black rifle?

If only someone were conducting these studies on living creatures and compiling the data, perhaps onto an online location, like a forum? 😁 Enough anecdotal evidence becomes data, and some of the threads on here are beginning to have A LOT of evidence that includes wound channel width and...

    Field Printout Critique

Looks like you have it laid out as clearly as possible given the parameters. I’ll admit I have seen a lot of errors from guys trying to use BDC reticles like that for hunting beyond MPBR. It seems to work sufficiently for range work, but under field pressure it seems to fall apart. Hopefully...

Tikka roughtech vs custom ruger american

In my opinion, you’re asking if you should: 1. Buy a very good rifle. 2. Buy a very marginal rifle and put it in an expensive stock. I vote number 1. And I own both Tikka and RA.

    Would you buy this scope?

Absolutely. 1-2 for me, and I have at least 3 buddies that don't rokslide that would go for it. PLEASE have NF make it. I would still buy if it's the normal LOW turret used by Trijicon/Maven/etc but it would be perfect if it had those crisp NF turrets!

    Blind Texas DIY hog hunt?

Don’t be afraid to still hunt into the wind for bedded hogs. We do it all the time in GA, which is plenty thick. Carry low ready, and be ready to shoot fast. Often if you jump a sounder, one of the pigs will pause (particularly if you are shooting suppressed) to try to determine what jumped...

    Squirrel Pistol

I wish someone would make an ultralight threaded .22 break action for just this purpose. Those little NAA pistols are just the right size and weight, but a revolver won’t suppress well. They could easily sell the lightest quietest pistol in town, and would make a perfect squirrel getter!

CVA Scout 300 Blackout Suppressed Sub Sonic for Deer?

Now there’s a decent sample size! Now there’s a sample size! Where are you shooting the pigs? Trapped or on the loose? Any chest shots, and how did the recovery go? Also very cool little rifle…er, pistol!

CVA Scout 300 Blackout Suppressed Sub Sonic for Deer?

Expect 9mm pistol-type wound channels. I have shot a couple smaller animals with 300BLK subs, and the difference between rifle wound channels and incapacity rates and subsonics was impressive. Like opossums and raccoons running off with double lung shots. We finished them off (it’s hard to hide...

    Handgun Hunters it’s getting closer!!

Whitetail maybe, but I don’t get nearly enough chances on elk to go with a pistol! Looks like fun though. What calibers? And what is your effective range? Had any success with them in the past?

    LPVO vs Red dot

LPVO if it was me. Particularly hog hunting during the daytime, I find that I’ll spot a hog/log, or a fur/weed. With magnification, I can dial up, ID, and take a quick shot. I’ve missed opportunities on hogs with red dots because I wasn’t 100% sure it was a pig, until it stood up and left.

    Pigs at night, what optic?

I think there’s a pretty solid market for a mount manufacturer (AGM are you listening?) to make a Quick Connect mount for thermals, so that they could easily and quickly (and in the dark) be remounted to a rifle in a way that returns to zero. For $200-300, a mount like that would be a...

    Pigs at night, what optic?

I hunt similarly, and have found a very lightweight rifle (SBR 11.5” AR with light components) allows for scanning and being ready to shoot quickly. It is fatiguing after 5-7 hours though.

    Pigs at night, what optic?

Woof. I’ve done that before and it sucked. Too often I would miss shot opportunities because of the delay switching from the thermal to a light. Not to mention any foliage between the shooter and the animal will light up so bright it makes it tough to see the animal. It works, but for $2K you...

    Pigs at night, what optic?

Are you trying to shoot them in broken or brushy terrain? For anything besides open fields, I have personally found thermal much better for shooting movers.
