180 gr speer grand slam. always had a plenty of damage.
many have been pass throughs but a few have been recovered, from elk and moose.
the one on the far right was found in and elk, just under the hide and was healed -probably from the year before i killed it.

always tarp your saddles at night. and yes, have a plan to pack your rider. going in the extra pannier will be on the packer.
i made a couple different sets of panniers for my saddle that work ok. too many of them hang too low for my taste.
if i take the pack horse out i do put the stuff...
i like something with lanolin in it or pure lanolin. put it on cuticle and then tape the ends of your fingers with masking tape or what ever you like. something that sticks well.
bag balm and then tape up. dont waste money on corn huskers.
if you tape up before they crack you will be way ahead of the problem. i keep masking tape close by.
a hobbled horse will also get to know when you are the one taking off the hobbles, too.
a speedy stitcher has fixed a lot of gear. i can saddle stitch if the situation demands but when not necessary i use the speedy.
