Fighting boredom in all day sits.

I always take a book but I barely ever read it for fear I’m going to miss something. I think it really comes down to being genuinely optimistic about your chances. If you feel like your hunt is shot it’s pretty hard to convince yourself otherwise.

    2024 Bugle Report

Hunted the last 4 days in Colorado. We found a drainage that was on fire for bugling, at least 6+ bulls. Saturday night we could hardly sleep because of all of the bugling. They seemed to shut up by about 8am with a few random bugles throughout the day. Couldn’t get any shot opportunities but...

When is it time to upgrade?

If you have the Halon and you shoot it well I wouldnt even think about upgrading. IMO, there haven’t been any technological advances over the last 10 years to warrant an upgrade. I used to the do the same as you and get a new bow every couple of years but after I got the Traverse I haven’t...

    RIP TKO Spine

I run an identical set up- 70 lbs draw, 30.5” draw length with 29” arrows and 175 up front. The 250s fly great for me.

I just carry the PS 10 Stihl handsaw. It’s like 5 ounces if I remember right.

    Vasectomy

Before my procedure the dr sat down and went through all of the potential risks, one of which was a 1% risk of chronic ball pain. That honestly made me pause…obviously an extremely small risk but an almost insufferable one if it were to occur.

    Vasectomy

I just had mine done yesterday and it went about as bad as I expected, but I was also borderline petrified when I went in there and do it totally coherent. The performing doctor as well all of the nurses were women, which didn’t bother me. The first ball was relatively fine but she did the...

Merino or Synthetic for archery elk.

I prefer synthetic myself. My skin stays pretty darn dry when I’m hiking around in my Sitka core lightweight hoody. I’ve worn it for 5 day hunts and haven’t noticed really any odor, but I also probably sweat less than the average person.

    Washing Hunting Clothes

I just throw a bunch of baking soda in with my clothes, probably a quarter of one of the smaller boxes. I actually thought that would be a more common response on this thread.

4 person tipis for solo hunt

My first trip out west I used a Cimmaron but have since downgraded to the Silex. I was willing to put up with the weight penalty but footprint size where I hunt was an issue.

    What are the odds??!!

Not sure where you’re located but there are areas of Wisconsin where white deer are pretty common.

What do you want from your woman?

Man maybe I’m doing something wrong with my marriage but I was going to say the complete opposite…just leave me alone lol.

Arizona Elk and Antelope Applications are Due 2/6!

I bought a bonus point on January 17th according to my bank statement but the dashboard still says I only have 1 point (should have 2 now). Did I screw something up? Any ideas? I bought my license on the last day last year to span the 2 years.

Chasing Big Muleys and Mental Endurance

Although not the same, I went through something similar whitetail hunting. I shot “nice” 3.5 year old bucks for three years straight with my bow but by the last one I found myself disappointed with the size class. I decided I was holding out for 4.5+ year olds from then on. I’ve eaten tag...

I love my crocs. Nothing like letting your feet air out in the middle of the day or after a long days hunt.
