    Canada moose hunting

We hunted with Effords. We flew in something like 60 miles. There was a few moose around but had to walk for them. It was the last week they were hunting that camp and all but 2 guys that were there before us the first 5 weeks that season shot moose. So I think it was a little pressured by that...

    Canada moose hunting

Congratulations that's awesome! We also departed Peter Strides that day! I ask though because as we were waiting to load the float plane 2 guys came off one with a beautiful caribou and one with a moose

Newfoundland Moose - Last wk of Sept

I went with lacrosse aero 3.5mm and they worked great. Hunted 5 days in them. The last day after I tagged out on day 5 I wore sealskinz socks which are waterproof and jungle boots. Fast drying with weep holes for water. Went to video my father that day. That set up worked really well. Maybe even...

Efford's Hunting Adventures Lodge Hunt Experience

Man we had a bad experience with effords as well. We did the "cheaper" fly in hunt which was still expensive to us. 5 guys booked for 1x1 hunts. Get into camp and there were 3 guides. So right off the bat something was off. Then 2 guides didn't like the other one. The 2 guides hunted morning and...

    Newfoundland moose hunt

I was there in October and wore lacrosse aero 3.5mm which worked great. Also brought a pair of waterproof knee high socks. Sealskinz was the brand and wore a pair of jungle boots. Quick drying with the weep holes on the sides. 5.11 brand. Wore them the last day after I shot my bull and went with...

    Bow hunt in NL

I just went in October 2022. My plan was to hunt with the bow and bring a rifle as a back up incase I couldn't get close. I hunted 4 days strictly with the bow. Day 4 I had a fork horn bull come to about 80 yards. If he came in to 65 yards I would have shot since I regularly practice in my yard...

    Newfoundland Moose

Definitely different camps have different guides and lodging and a lot of variations. But when the owner blows you off with issues you present him then to me that whole outfitter isn't worth the time even if there are good guides and camps. But that's just my opinion from my experiences.

What's The Best Back Tension Release To Begin With?

I haven't tried other resistance releases but the Silverback worked well for me. Easy to use and comfortable in my hand. I bounce back and forth between the too smooth and Silverback. Keeps me guessing and honest with both.

What’s you’re draw weight vs Age

33/ 72# with 75% let off. The best training you can do for shooting a heavier weight is just shooting your bow

Iron will field points worth it?

I'm sure they are tighter tolerances than the cheap ones but most archers aren't close to as good enough to see a difference in field point accuracy from brand to brand.

    Chest Rig for bowhunting?

I picked up a T&K bino harness about a year ago and love it. I keep my range finger on the right and have a small zip pocket on the left with a wind checker. Extra battery for range finder, lense cleaner. It works great and never had a problem shooting with it on. Even with my 52" recurve I...

    Suggestions on Kifaru Gear

I've been using the Stryker XL and pack a dry bag and stuff it in the meat shelf. Seems to work out. So far I have zero complaints about any kifaru products I've bought

    Newfoundland Moose

I've gone on two NL moose hunts. One was this past October and one was 10 years earlier. This past hunt we went with Effords. Unfortunately I would not recommend them. We had 5 hunters in our group and were supposed to have 5 guides but when we flew into camp there was only 3 so we had two...

Did going on a guided hunt improve your skill level?

IMO it definitely depends on the guide and what your going for. I've been on a handful of guided hunts, mostly for species i do not regularly hunt on my own. But even those hunts I've learned some woodsman skills that I can bring home and use on my own. Much less all the skills for that...

"Sell" me on your outdoors smart watch

I've been using my garmin instinct solar now for about 2 years. I absolutely love it. It's definitely a little beaten up. I work construction for a living but it's handled the abuse very well. It's also been inside multiple deer from gutting and butchering. Only time I take it off is to charge...

    Bring back made in USA..

Maybe there needs to be a change in our views of what the worth of a job is. "Playing" on a computer from home takes education, schooling, etc. While physical jobs, factory work, construction, any labor job takes it tolls on your body. Maybe the sacrifice working a physical job, giving up your...
