Diving Into Trad Bowhunting. No more suction cup arrows. Wisdom and Stories appreciated.

I already have volume one of Traditional Bowyers Bible and Clay Hayes's book. Both have taught me so much just paging through em. Thanks! I'll have to check that out for if I ever make it down that way! I am not too concerned with how long the first one lasts, but I would love to see it...

Are you willing to split anything up? I'd be interested in the quilts if you could send a picture of them.

Selfbow building and shavehorses. Anyone else use/build one?

That is good insight. I was wondering how long it woul take to need bushings in the pivot point. Over a hundred bows is pretty good. Even several dozen will take me a long time. I am still on number one. Anyone else have a picture of their shave horse?

Selfbow building and shavehorses. Anyone else use/build one?

That looks really solid! I am a big fan of the old tractor seat. Is there anything you really like or anything you would change if you built one again?

Diving Into Trad Bowhunting. No more suction cup arrows. Wisdom and Stories appreciated.

I definitely want to get some wood arrows, i just figured carbon would be easier to start building with and more durable as I will probably miss the target a lot to start with. How is the durability on those cheaper shafts? There is a traditional archery club somewhat near my location. I hope...

I think you are spot on, Beendare. I am definitely doing it the hard way for now. There is a great chance I will end up adding a manufactured bow or two to my collection someday, especially when I have more time to shoot. At the moment, I am enjoying the learning process and not in a hurry to...

Selfbow building and shavehorses. Anyone else use/build one?

Hi all. I posted in another thread about my first real selfbow project. I thought I'd start another thread to discuss shavehorses and designs. Here is the one I built out of some repurposed materials and about $40 worth of hardware. I still want to add a more comfortable seat, but just sitting...

Diving Into Trad Bowhunting. No more suction cup arrows. Wisdom and Stories appreciated.

I haven't had much free time to work on the bow recently, but I am getting to it! I've been tinkering with my shave horse a bit and working on some other projects. However, I did just get some 500 spine gold tip shafts and some components in the mail so I will be ready to put some arrows...

Beendare, Congrats on the moose hunt! That is awesome! How was your arrow set up to penetrate like that? (shaft material, fletchings, broadhead, weight, etc)

Thanks! Ill look into what opportunities there might be for lessons in my area! As far as the stringing/unstringing, risk of bow taking a set, etc, I know I appreciate the lower maintenance nature of my compound bow, and I really enjoy shooting it, but I think there is a certain beauty to the...

Thanks for the encouragement, all of you! I fully plan on this first one being OK at best. Either way this will hopefully be the first of many bow I build. I already have a couple extra logs I cut awhile back, and plan to find more stave material when I can get up north again. Thank you for...

Hello all, This is my first post on rokslide. I originally just joined to get to the classifieds, but after reading a bunch of threads, I am excited to learn from such a large community of hunters. Here's the dream: I have been whitetail hunting with a compound bow for years in Northwestern...
