My version of QL doesn't have the 7PRC, so I grabbed the 7RM SAAMI, adjusted case length to match the 7PRC, gave it a COAL to put the boat tail ogive at the shoulder neck junction, adjusted case capacity to ADG's published case volume and ran N570 up to pressure of 69.54gr on a 20" barrel. I'm...
Just to add some content to the thread I ran some QL #s. Berger publishes good information for bullet dimensions and I put the boat tail ogive at the neck shoulder junction to determine the cartridge length below. Max case capacity was adjusted to ADG's published data. Charge weight was...
I agree and when I looked at all of the Lapua and ADG brass I certainly noticed the 6.8 being right there on capacity with the SAUM and has a 35⁰ shoulder. I like it. In case any don't know, ADG has case capacity published for each of their cases. Numerically, it's a fine suggestion as a...
I've followed a few of your posts. Access to the right reamer certainly makes the process more complex than just click and buy. It's beginning to feel like I'm going to have to buy a reamer. You must be running a shorter barrel as well. I'd think your velocity would be higher on N570, though...
The -06 has about the same case capacity as the 6.5prc. I don't care for the shoulder angle and if we're back to improving we're back to 6UM or Primal's 6PRCai. I don't own an action suited for it either.
It's funny how that little voice in the back of my head kept reminding me of the stories you've told on the podcast about your friend's daughters crushing elk with 6 creedmoors and keeps asking why the 6prc wouldn't be a good enough step up. It's hard not getting sucked into the game of...
The 6.5prc has the same case capacity and less neck to reduce. I could see it if you're not running a mag bolt face and already have dies and brass.
Are you averse to the wsm case design or winchester brass?
I've been following most of the 6UM scuttle, as well as 6-6.5prc, 6 saum, 6-7prc and 6UM 30⁰. I've read the pros and cons and variations of them. It's all a lot of fun. I find myself wanting to build a fast 6 but I find myself more willing to loosen the reigns on some of the constrictions on...
