Have had two scope failures. One a swfa fixed 10x on a 50 bmg. Made it 45 shots and then the reticle came loose.
Vortex crossfire was dropped and then complete miss of two deer. When back to the range it was 2+ feet low at 100. Very suspect.
Why not spin on a 25-06 barrel? Same brass, just neck it down. A few really good bc 130+g bullets now. Need a faster than Saami twist for those, so no takeoff. The 06 case is about equal to a 6.5 prc for case volume.
If using a takeoff I see lots of love for the 120g for deer. Look at the...
First let me say I own and hunt with a 35 whelen, but after not getting a result I expected on an animal I started looking at why.
The 250g partition vs a 77 Tmk. Max load per nosler is 2600 fps, you can buy a 2750 load with the 77 tmk. The 77tmk is faster out to 500 yards and drops below...
Here is my take on raptor with reflex. Point of reference, I have 2 375 10 stacks. One 3” and one 5” reflex. Also a 30 cal A-10. If you want quieter than the no reflex 8 stack for hunting, then the 10 stack is a better choice. The reflex is heavier than the two extra baffles and is about...
It’s only a .007” neck down to go from 6.5 to 25. Hardly anything. I have necked down 444 marlin to 358 in a single pass, 6.5 to 25 is a sizing by comparison.
I think a lot of the feel is due to polishing and fitting. Due to price points and modern mfg methods neither of those are really done on low end guns now. I bought a remlin 1894 and it was awful out of the box. Rough, hard to cycle, some work with new springs and a stone, it’s now smooth and...
Unfortunately it will never show in your account. Why you ask, because your dealer did the submission and it only shows in his account. All you get is the email saying approved.
+1. I too built a 7prc, put 10 rnds downrange and took it apart. It now wears a 25-6.5 prc barrel. Should put 134g pills downrange at 2950 instead of 180’s. Lose some bc .401 vs .325 but with 30% less recoil.
I would start with finding a hull either AA-HS or Remington. Then select payload. 7/8, 1 or 1-1/8. Next find a powder you can get. Clays, red dot, promo, clay dot, etc. Look that up and figure out which wad works with that combination. For those two hulls there are 3 sizes of wads...
I just spun on a 24-6.5prc, 22”. Have not done any development yet, but have rl26,retumbo and h1000. I was hoping for 2900-2950 without pushing the limits.
IMHO the 338 arc is the death sentence for 8.6 BO. Better twist rate, fits in an ar-15 and saami approved.
I looked at using a 360 BH sub, but it’s marginal on energy to meet legal requirements with a 205g. Not fast enough twist for 300g. The 338 arc and 8.6 bo don't meet caliber...
I started down the rabbit hole of Rokslide due to not getting bang flops. As a late to hunting hunter, everyone talks about drt and I wasn’t getting them. Wanted to understand if I was doing something wrong. Turns out it pretty hard to do a drt. I had one that took one step then down, but...
If you are doing any volume that’s a really slow way to make shells. When it was shooting a lot, I would load for an hour on an pw800, every other week and have 500-600. That was enough to last the next two weeks with two shooters.
I do have a single stage mec that I use for hunting loads...
First figure out if it’s worth it. I have not bought components in years, back then it cost about $3/box to load, plus labor. Flats were about $55, so $5.50 a box for cheaper loads.
Promo loads are still probably less than $10/box if bought by the flat.
For hulls, AA-HS is popular, these...
There is the hope that if they are treated as any other firearm, it can be argued that those laws are unconstitutional just like awb’s.
While I don’t thing a suppressor is an arm, it is treated that way in the nfa. Thus it’s an arm.
Both moa and mil are angular measurements, so why do you have to convert to linear? Moa can be converted to linear as it’s close enough to 1” per 100 yards, but it’s still an angle. Is it just that mil are better sized numbers?
