I'm thinking of going the same direction. Save a step between binos and range finder. I already need a new rangefinder so I'll probably be researching and on the hunt for a combo unit.
My son is 12 and small in weight and stature. I got him a Mossberg Bantam 7mm-08. It shoots well and has little recoil. I think its a great youth choice. He is shooting 120 grain bullets now, but can go up to 140-160 later for larger animals.
I would like to order that front sight, but I don’t know if it will fit. The Optima lr never had a front sight. If the barrels are the same diameter I will order a front sight and the peep rib for the rear.
My kids have a CVA Optima v2 LR. I need to add a front sight to it for 4h shooting sports competition and hunting in Nevada. I have a friend that will correctly drill and tap the barrel if I have the sight or sight ramp to put on it. Does anyone have another CVA muzzleloader and a set of...
Yeah my 270 shoots the Barnes 129 lrx at 3170-3180.
I’ve got Federal 150s, Federal 180s, Sierra 165s, Black Hills 168 match, and Remington 180s. I guess I’ll see what it likes and just shoot it. I’m sure it will be useful with those heavier bullets at some point.

We went to the store and found plastic tubs that fit in the freezer. Deep tubs down the bottom with shallow tubs on top. Everything is organized and easier to find.

I was super impressed with it. 230 yards and it went through the first shoulder (no bone), ribs, obliterated the lungs, and still shattered the offside shoulder bone. I couldn’t ask for more.
