I have been talking with a few guys about this lately. With the development in bullets, barrel manufacturing, lapping, etc its starting to become less important for some rifles. I have a 6 Creed that doesn't care what you put in it, it will just shoot it. I have done load dev on a couple 300...
Like others have said I would shoot the first 330+ bull you see. In 2020 I passed up a 330 on day one and never seen another one bigger. Its hard to fight the urge of shooting a 290-300 bull but you will see a bunch of them! Have a lot of fun though its a great hunt and you will see a ton of Elk!
Theres lots of shooter or vendors willing to lend out gear too so don't be afraid to ask if u ever need anything! U can also do the loaner program through the NRL Hunter

I feel like most people just try to steer clear of water and barrels getting together. Wouldnt take much for the water to sit around the bolt lugs in the action.
I feel like 90% of hand loaders cant beat Hornady match with their loads… although its great to fine tune your ammo the tight sd and es is difficult to achieve without some money and time in the reloading room!
