    Nebraska Nonresident Mule deer help

I love Nebraska and have hunted it several times, always archery and always public and have run into very few other archery hunters. Bird hunters, yes. Antelope hunters, yes. The density is low but the deer are there if you work for them, the Sandhills is a beautiful area to hunt. As a previous...

    Cheap Stuff that Works

I use this Stanley cookset and a knock off version of the pocket rocket stove that came from Amazon. A small jet boil butane canister will nest down inside along with a lighter and a handkerchief for cleaning and the whole package is neat and tidy. I like this cookset because of the insulated...

    Vortex Glasspak harness mod

Just curious, what was the reason for this mod? My only complaint on the glass pack is the side pouches on mine got tore up from brush or from me stuffing too much random gear in them.

    Game Bags

Pillow cases here too! Get em for nothing at a local thrift store. Wash with bleach when you’re done or just toss em.

    Budget Elk Pack

I have used an Arcteryx Bora 80 for a couple trips because I needed a pack that didn’t break the bank. This pack Is supposed to be identical to an ILBE but it’s a little lighter. It’s pretty highly recommend for a budget non hunting brand pack and it’s a well designed pack and really comfy and...

    Oklahoma Piggies

Thanks for the feedback guys, i'm certainly OK with working for them. I like the idea of a hard hunt, i'm weird like that. I'm trying to keep it to a certain area of the state because i'll be travelling from Wisconsin, most likely solo...so I don't want anything longer than a 15 hour drive from...

    Oklahoma Piggies

Has anyone here spent any time on the public ground in the Northeast of Oklahoma? I'm looking for somewhere to do some hog hunting and Oklahoma seems to be a decent option for a late winter hunt. I'm fairly clueless at this point, so if someone wants to educate me on wildlife, weather, landscape...

    Puffy pant?

Military surplus M65 field pant liners can be had on eBay for practically nothing. I use them as a layer for tree stand hunting in the Midwest and have used them as an over the pant outer layer occasionally. Pretty light and are a lot warmer than you'd think. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    open country advice needed

Thanks for the reply Robby, the area receives around 13" of rain a year and there are wells fairly plentiful (I would guess at least 1 per sq/mile). So while I do feel like water would draw them in during a hot hunt, but I don't exactly know how to key in on what sources they are using at what...

    open country advice needed

First time poster, long time lurker here. So let's get the introduction out of the way, I'm a mid-westerner living in the city that is famous for cheese curds and the team that Aaron Rodgers plays for. I have two boys 2 and 4, my wife stays home with these crazies, so she's obviously a saint but...
