I don't know who makes these, AstroAI Balaclava Ski Mask but I ordered them for a backcountry AK snowmobile trip because they looked look, great reviews and super cheap. ($17 for 2) I love em; warm, windproof, waterproof (after spraying them) I have other balaclavas' and face masks from other...
A side-by-side comparison to the Athlon Midas for my eyes, Meopta was clearer and brighter. Meopta was better then Vortex HD, Burris and NF nxs early and late. I am believer that different folks eyes like different glass, my hunting partner liked NF over Meopta but agree its better than Vortex...
6.5 PRC w/ 24" barrel 143g ELD-x with H4831SC (54.5 g) 2900fts and 2910 (suppressed) groups @ 0.39" will take down a Gemsbok at 610yrds. ran 30yrds and staggered another 20yrds before collapsing. groups increased to 0.7 w/ suppressor and same load data.
+1 for Meopta Optika6. Love the rubber grip turrets, especially on wet days and amount of dial up. I don't have the $$$ (or balls) to test drop my rifle scopes but this fall off the back of a truck and kept zero and dial ups.
Thanks, yeah there are a lot of unknowns right now.... 16 are the lows, might get up to 33 - 36 during the day and worried snow turns to rain or snow piling up on the outer shell melts.
Trip to Alaska in March, snowmobiling & hunting around Dillingham area with high's ~30 and low's ~16. Could I get away with Kuiu Axis gear over good base and mid layer or do I need a heavier down puffy jacket? I will have a shell over the Axis if required for wind and rain.
Thanks
Great, thanks.
Snyder website says it makes magazines for Short Actions only but I sent them an email to be sure. Savage builds the 6.5 PRC on both long and short actions (they make it very confusing). The magazine spring came apart, I sent Savage an email asking if they've had issues. I have...
I need a Savage PRC 6.5 magazine for a Alaska hunt coming in March........ I've searched every website, called Savage and other stores and there is not 1 to be found. Does anyone have a secret on finding a Savage 6.5PRC magazine (55252) so I don't have to manually single load this. ;-)
I didn't have the chronograph setup but will next week. H1000 was the 2nd best with .71 using 57.5 which was the high load I used so I might go up to 58.5 and see what happens. I'll let you know the groups of H1000 and the velocity of both.
LOL, that's my problem, I have a love affair with the Weatherby and my V2 shoots .75 all day. +20 African animals, Baboon @ 525 and Ibex at 647yrds! Ok, thanks everyone. I'm convinced, I'm selling 300Wby or a PRC build.
Burris Eliminator 4-12x42 Laser Rangefinder scope w/ Lens Caps, Mount Base, Sun Shade, cloth, remote control, data codes and original box. I had it on a 300 WSM and it was surprising accurate when you plug in the data codes. Shot less than 50 times out to 600yrds and was impressed. It has a...
If you're going to build your next 300 would it be a PRC or Wby? I love my weatherby and heard good things about the PRC, wondering why you would choose one over the over?
I was wondering if Long Range Hunting website is owned/operated by the same group as Rokslide? They have the similar rules, similar posts/threads, look & feel and folks post on both sites. Just curious
Update to this thread - 6.5 PRC 143 ELDx all OAL 2.953. 6 different loads of each: H1000, IMR4831, Ramshot Magnum and H4831sc. H4831sc by far the best. Savage 110 w/ Proof Research - H4831sc 54.0gr = .648" & 54.5gr = .453"
I didn't hear anyone mention Lance kronberger with Freelance Outdoors.........I haven't hunted with him but his name comes up often in my circle of Goat Hunters.
