    .243 deer bullet choice

    I loaded 95g ballistic tips for my son’s first 3 deer and was very impressed, 2 dropped and the third only made it 40 yards. I have always used 30 calibers so I was unsure what to expect from a 243. There are better bullets but I keep going back to the nosler BT’s

    Hot Fall temperatures have NC rut all messed up this year. Kinda like a mini rut that started late and is stretching out into late November.

    Welcome from a fellow eastern NC new guy. The deer aren’t huge but there are lots of them. Had 8 bucks come by the stand yesterday but the only “shooter” was a huge 8 and he was missing his left side just above the brow tine. His slight limp might suggest a run in with a car.

    What % of your daughters hunt???

    18 yo daughter hunts but doesn’t share the same passion as her 16 yo brother. I think she really likes hanging out with us at camp and getting into the woods. My 14 yo daughter has gone a few times but didn’t show any interest in “killing” anything, she will sit in a stand and watch deer.
