8 years sober this month.
I find I typically lose weight in the fall, winter, and spring, then pack it back on in the summer for the same reason: it's go go go, all the time. I find myself eating fried gas station food and cookies. I begrudgingly accept it, but I strive to change every summer...
I ended up sending it back. It was a phenomenal jacket, and if I still lived in Colorado (born and raised) it probably would’ve been perfect, but it’s just too wet here in the PNW to be very useful.
For me, it was almost impossible to layer with this jacket. It was too thick to fit under a rain...
I went a little nuts: Rogers Elite 2-in-1 waders, a few Kuiu items, Schnee’s Beartooth II’s, a Hanks Canyon Belt, Sitka Jetstream jacket, and a pair of SG DH’s from the classifieds.
Maybe more. I get surprised by stuff I ordered, but forgot about.
Edit: and an a SWFA 1-4x SS. 😆
I also use a Jetstream for everyday wear, including soccer games. I live in the Pacific Northwest. Winters here are wet and cold. My Jetstream handles it very well. I can wear the Jetstream by itself down to about 42° if I’m moving. Any colder than that and I throw on a long sleeve base layer...
I rescind my previous comments. My new Jetstream jacket just showed up directly from Sitka. It’s awesome. I don’t know what the other jackets were that I tried, they said they were Jetstreams from a third-party seller, but they definitely weren’t this.
I really like the cut of the new...
I’m saying basically the same thing as the other members. When I bought the catalyst foundry pants I wore a 36 in most other pants, so I got a pair in 36. They weren’t tight, per se, but they have zero flex in the waistband. I think the 38’s would too big.
I’ve been wearing Fjallraven Vida Pros almost daily at work for about 3 years now. They’ve held up to all manner of abusing job sites. They’re tough and very comfortable. I have 3 pairs of the original models, but I’m going to pull the trigger on the new ventilated model soon...
“How we live our days, is how we live our lives.”
The decisions we make every day add up, until someday we realize we’ve become the sum of our choices.
I quit drinking almost 18 years ago. It almost got me.
Its been encouraging reading through this post. I genuinely wish everyone here good...
I’m ordering some De Havillands today. Maybe some DH Lites too. I’m 5’9”, 165#. 34/35 waist, 30” inseam.
Kuiu Axis Hybrids in 36 are slightly too big. FL Catalyst Foundry 36’s are way too big. Fjallraven Kebs in 54(EU) are way too big.
How true to size are the DH’s? I don’t know if I should...
dingle I wear headlamps 4-6 hours every day. I mostly use red light, but occasionally I need white as well. Black Diamond Spot and Storm haven’t worked for me, I don’t like the buttons or the electronic whine.
I have switched every headlamp I own over to the Princeton-Tec Remix Pro. I 100%...
I’m starting to think that I may have gotten an odd in-between version of the Jetstream from a third party seller. My wife bought a couple of them for me off Amazon, God bless her.
I just ordered a new Jetstream directly from Sitka to make sure I’m not misrepresenting the jacket. I love my old...
I’ve owned the 3-15x for 10 years and I’ve shot numerous competitions with it. My shooting partner is the guy who first developed the shims for the zero stops. He came up with the solution after we competed in the Sniper Adventure Challenge. It’s a quick and easy fix.
It’s not a NF, Kahles...
I’ll just reaffirm what’s already been said, packs are highly individualistic. I started with Badlands, then went to Eberlestock, then went to an Exo K2 then a K3, now I just bought a Kifaru. All are/were excellent packs.
One thing I wish I knew earlier in my pack journey is that it takes...
Quests are my go-to boot, but I go through a pair about every 18 months. I like the fit and feel of the boots, so I’m willing to pay to replace them.
I have other high-end boots, but for hiking and everyday wear, I like the Quests.
In my opinion, boots like the Quests are consumables. I...
