There are some good deer in there but it would be a great deal of help if you could make a weekend scouting trip before season to narrow down an area to hunt. It is really easy to spend a week looking at nothing but cotton mouths and copperheads if you don't find a place the deer want to be and...
I think it is safe to say that CPW does indeed control how many points it takes to draw a specific unit based on how many tags they offer. As a NR, I would be ok with that as being more than fair and quite generous to us NR's.
In montgomery if any of you tomball montgomery guys are still around. Season is pretty full this year but solo hunt and flexible after this year with a couple of points in most states.
Shoot for the moon on your first pick, then a middle of the road #2 with a decent #3, and a please let me hunt #4. This way if the stars align and you get drawn early, you get the glory tag and don't waste your high pick. Just my .02
I wouldn't kill the idea of arizona, just consider some of the easier to draw units as opposed to the top 5. If you put in a good mixture of 4-5 states, in 3 years you should be able to go on a quality hunt every year somewhere. AZ also has the 5 year loyalty preference point and the hunters Ed...
I don't have that exact Leopold or Zeiss, but I have all around them and my .02 is I like my Zeiss slightly more than Leupold. The objective lense you will hardly see a difference in weight or brightness. Buy what you want and promise everyone else you want ask them to carry it.
Can't say for sure about idaho and wyoming but New Mexico and Arizona, I had a game warden from Arizona share my glassing knob for a half a day, we were in New Mexico, and he was watching Arizona. He said it was legal to come and go, but that was how a lot of people tried to slip illegal animals...
Ignore this statement. I've been trying for 2 years and got drawn both years. Won't be for the top units, but I had opportunities at 280" bulls last year, have to see what this year looks like when I get out there. If you want to hunt, study the draw odds and put in for where you have a...
My parents loaded my brothers and I up when I turned 13 and we headed to Colorado, right outside of Mancos, for a few years in a row to hunt elk and mule deer. Then life happened and I didn't go back until last year. Social media played a significant role I'm me deciding the heck with looking...
I don't believe I said anything contrary to that. I've not researched all of the states, but the ones I have are 10 years to buy a lifetime, and then while you have to pay nr price for tags, you aren't subject to the nr quota. Not saying wyoming is that way, as I'm not certain, but several...
