I am not the real jlhois. I thought it would be funny to reuse his name since he changed it

Been a pretty good year so far

Ya I'm gonna start tanning them soon here. I've done some bear and cougar hides using Trubond. It's a lot of work though. My house is small so might have to start putting bear hides on the floor

Been a pretty good year so far

The packout wasn't too miserable, took about 7.5 hours and was 800' of elevation gain for each trip. Next task was helping a buddy get his first elk. I took him into one of my old haunts on the coast to find a Roosevelt. We found an absolute giant that roared like a dinosaur, and I called him...

Been a pretty good year so far

Snow was all gone at the truck. Processed the second bear and got it all sealed up in the freezer and headed home. Next up was trying to get a bear around home before elk season. I found a sow and cubs eating berries one day The next weekend I was able to secure a large bear patrolling the...

Been a pretty good year so far

Spotted this bear from a long ways out but when I got closer I saw she was a sow with cubs. This photo is from the next day when I bumped into them again. Another day I spotted her alone, with no cubs...at least almost certain it was her. Scenery Spotted this hunk eating/69ing a cow elk...

Been a pretty good year so far

Since I failed to draw a spring bear tag in my state (I can only get one a bit over half the time), I started out with a 10 day backcountry spring bear hunt in my neighbor state that has "reduced price" bear tags for certain areas. I saw 11 bears. I also had 13 ticks on my body in a single day...

    Barrel threading….again.

I threaded a .308 barrel 1/2-28 no problem. I've run a 9" long 28 ounce silencer on it without issue.

    First time backcountry hunt

Nah, I just thought it would be funny to recycle the name since he changed his. Turns out it just confuses all you meme legends

    First time backcountry hunt

Have you gone backpacking before? I had a lot of experience in the backcountry, and a decent amount of hunting experience, before ever combining the two. I know a lot of hunters don't really like hiking/backpacking just for the scenery, but if you can get in the mountains without any...

    3 or 5 pin??

I've been real happy with a single pin slider. In the last 4 years with it I've killed 2 bulls, 2 bears, 6 deer and a handfull of birds across many different landscapes, and can't think of any "lost opportunities" due to having only one pin. I can't imagine wanting 5 pins on a slider, 2 or 3...

Do you use your Multi tool

I carry the big leatherman surge everywhere and use it many times every single day - except when I'm hunting. I cant justify the weight in the backcountry, so I take knives and allen wrenches for my bow, but only specific things that I actually need. I've rarely wished I had it.

    Bowhiker here

Howdy folks, been lurking off and on for years but here I am now. Think I finished up my required reading so now I'm ready to mingle. I like to go on long walks in the woods with my bow. I also like sleeping in.
