In the mid-2000s I hunted Cleveland National Forest for pigs and they were there if you knew where to go. We started just making the trip up to Vandenberg AFB and further north to Hunter Liggett if we really wanted to get a few.
I'm on my 3rd year with the Colorados and have zero complaints on them. I use them all season in Virginia and have made two trips west to Montana with them.
If you are in thr Aerospace industry and want to be in the Fredricksburg area, I would look to see what was available in Dahlgren, VA. A lot of defense industry in that area and a short commute to Fredricksburg.
I picked up a set of Leupold BX-4 Pro Guides in 10x42 and like them so far. They are crisp with good eye relief for me. I think I got them right around 500.
I think your Savage will do everything you need it to do in those ranges. If you are just wanting a new rifle, I would look at the Tikkas and what they have available. My Tikkas and Savages do everything I need them to do and I have never had an issue with either.
