"cold bore shift" always seemed more like a "cold shooter" error to me.
Otherwise, it doesn't make sense. If your POI has a thermal variability to it, you will see it through all shots, not just your very first shot compared to all the other shots. That makes no sense.
Mind you, improperly...
Perhaps someone else has another source or a trick that we don't know.
You may just have to live with the 1/3 arc, barring getting your own drone with a LiDAR package ($$$).
Are you getting your data from USGS?
Here's the catalog from them, if you need it: https://data.usgs.gov/datacatalog/data/USGS:77ae0551-c61e-4979-aedd-d797abdcde0e
It's been a while since I had my GIS course and used DEM layers, but from what I remember, 1/3 models had a lot more availability...
I wouldn't be too concerned about any absolute numbers, and whether a specific number is dB or dBA.
Instead, use it in a comparative manner to any other can on that list, using either SE dB or SE dBA, just be consistent on which one of the two you use when comparing.
Bore snake is pretty easy to pack. There's also travel rods that break down into a smaller package. As another mentioned, if you have an issue where you have to clear an obstruction in the barrel, a bore snake will not help you.
For solvents, I use Mpro-7.
It doesn't matter that much. I think MacBros did a test with different MB port orientations, and the ports need to be angled a pretty good amount before it makes any real difference to the shooter (I think it was 5* and more).
It matters none at all if only shooting suppressed.
Look at the Abel Co. Theorem, or Theorem-S if you want to save some weight and length. Newer company, and amazing quality.
Diligent Defense has great products for the price. OCL makes some great products too. And of course any TBAC offering that checks your boxes.
You've obviously attended different training than I have. Most of the shooting in the professional courses I've attended are positional, and without the aid of a tripod.
The S2H training looks very interesting. Keep up the good work. Again, I'm not bagging on you guys.
There's a lot of value to professional training. I'm overdue to do another one in fact.
Yes, I'm sure there are still learnings occurring 1,000 rounds later. There always is. But there are trade-offs being made to shoot that 1,000 rounds over the period of 5 days.
I shoot a lot of different groups.
My background is a precision rifle shooting one, not a hunting one. I'm new to hunting, but I'm not new to precision rifles.
Anyways, I'm not bagging on the S2H guys, seems like a great course. I love the write-ups.
The only barrel burner I have is a .300NM, and obviously that would not be going to a course like this. Barrels are consumables.
But I strongly believe that 1,000 rounds over 5 days is far into the law of diminishing returns.
I bet in a few years S2H will reduce their round count, once they...
Nice, some great write-ups in here!
I do question the need for 1,000 rounds of ammo (post #104), or anything close to that. I've done a lot of professional precision rifle training courses, including some of the top courses in the country. Rifles Only has a 400 round count for a 5 day course...
I only have one hunting rifle, and it's a Mausingfield with a Benchmark barrel spun up by TS Customs.
Needless to say it shoots.
Price doesn't necessarily correlate to more precision. But if you want to guarantee good to great precision, you need to start with a quality barrel blank and have...
Technically its a cottage pie, shepherds pie has lamb as the protein ;)
One of my favorite meals, especially in the winter time. Hardy, warm and delicious.
Matty Matheson has a great recipe - I usually do a rendition of his recipe. I like to add diced habaneros to mine for an extra kick, spice...
Oh yeah.
The amount of sugars and highly processed oils in our pre-made food is absolutely disturbing.
Thankfully a lot of stuff is easy to make yourself, and the end result is actually better. I haven't made mayonnaise yet, but its incredibly simple. Only 4-5 ingredients I believe. I don't...
Here's another little anecdotal data point on why our nation is pretty unhealthy.
Our neighbors daughter has recently (as in the past year) decided to go vegetarian for ethical reasons. She's around 13. Which is fine, whatever. People are allowed to make their own choices, and I totally respect...
