I am looking forward to having some of these stories. A gentleman I work with is who got me onto the idea. He compared it to fly fishing with homemade flies. The idea got me hooked on having a traditional bow in the arsenal.

Does anyone have any good recurve stories? I am crossing my fingers to have one made and I would like to live vicariously through you all until then. Also, are there any tips and tricks to shooting a recurve?

Why NOT a Tikka?

I was in the same boat as you not long ago. I ended up picking up a CA mesa used, lets hope its a stud. Around the same price, I would spend the extra few hundred to get the Bergara B-14. I have several friends who "out of the box" swear by them. You can pick them up in that 800-900$ range...

Merino wool brand?

I am currently in Antarctica as a winter over. I don't know of a cheap merino wool brand. The best thermals I have found are WoolX. It is a bit expensive but I've had mine for years, they're strong, light and uber warm. LL bean also has a fantastic base layer. I know first lite is geared...
