Thanks for the info. I just replied to the comment before yours, I will definitely be figuring out what works and doesn’t work and I’m sure I’ll be changing things out to get it dialed in. My first year trying to get system together that fits how I hunt and I’m sure it’ll definitely take some...
Thanks for the insight on the different pieces. This is my first year trying to get an actual system together and not have just a bunch of random clothes that don’t work. I’m sure I’ll definitely be trying different pieces and combinations to try to narrow it down.
I bit the bullet this year and did some upgrading to my hunting clothes. Pretty active whitetail WV public land hunter mainly between 20’s-60’s/70’s temp range. Wind and rain/slow not a huge concern. Just bit the bullet on a Kuiu peloton 118 LS for base, SF 260, and Kenai jacket-already had...
Ok. I just picked up some pieces from Kuiu and that was one of them. I white tail hunt public land and am super active. I got the peloton LS 118 strongfleece 260 and the kenai jacket and pants. I have a nomad barrier jacket to put over the top if I need to.
I bought that same pack a couple months ago and it’s really nice. I’ve loaded it and unloaded it a few times playing around with it and figuring out the pockets and organization. No time in the field yet.
Yea I avoid it when I can, but also don’t want rain to stop me. I have a small umbrella that screws into a tree if I get caught out in it. My main though was like if it’s gonna be raining first thing in the morning, I could still hit the woods with the rain gear.
I would go with a good shell and then hit ebay and classifieds for used insulated top/bottom.
I’m waiting to hit my post limit to check out the classifieds on here.
Around $500 is the budget. I’ve completely redone my clothing this year, tried to focus on layers that work together so I can eliminate a bunch of random stuff that doesn’t work. I have the traverse pants, peloton 97 zip off bottoms, kiln 250 zip off bottoms for the bottom and a base layer...
Trying to decide between getting a good set of rain gear or puffy pants and jacket. I don’t have either one and trying to figure out what would be more versatile. December in West Virginia can literally be anywhere between the teens and 70s, and snow/rain can be as undecided as the temperatures...
Do u think they’re loose enough in the waist to get a good base layer on under them? Like the furnace or something thinner? I’m a 36 waist and have been advised to size up to layer underneath
