    Mule deer beards were way down last year when we were out hunting compared to the previous years we had been there for sure. The ones that were there were all piled up on private ranches where they were irrigating the alfalfa.

    Fall bear

    We found last fall when it was really dry that they moved into lower territory for chokecherries! We had really good luck on some school sections where it was really thick and lots of chokecherries. We were able to look over probably 10-15 different bears.

    We use the Cabelas brand and it works great as long as you keep the meat cold.

    We just use the big white Coleman coolers. We usually take a couple so we can keep the meat from being too much in each cooler.

    What's Your Favorite Tactic for Hunt Early Archery Elk?

    We have had good luck early walking until we get into fresh elk sign and if we can’t spot them or they aren’t talking setting up every few hundred yards with a caller and a shooter setup. Bugling early or late in the day to try to get a response, if that’s not working we do a lot of cold calling...

    Boots!

    I have some underarmor boots that have lasted me 4 years so far but are definitely for shorter hikes with not a lot of altitude change. I love my Kenetreks in the mountains. This will just be my second season with this set but well worth the price in my opinion.

    I would find a nasty canyon somewhere late season. After they’ve been pushed around by humans all season they are going to avoid anything relatively open.
