Where to start - Offseason Workouts

This is a great "in the trenches" breakdown. Getting after it, living the life and crushing it. I appreciate the post!

TRAIN Again, reiterating what I said before, you don’t diet your way into being fit. Muscles and tendons need movement to function at their peak. This is your paradigm. It won’t happen all at once, give yourself some grace to get from where you are today to a place where you can train every...

Good stuff. Just want to re-iterate that you should have a General Practice Doctor who you trust. This is your king and country resource. They can direct you on the path to health (thinking blood pressure, lipid profile, hematocrit, etc. here) Now, bro science...... Testosterone is chicken...

Jealous. 901 makes you an absolute bull shark. For people who don't know, it would be considered high end of average for a 30 year old male to kick a 650 test score. Most doctors won't prescribe TRT unless you are in the 100s. 900 is money. If you haven't done blood work, that is a GREAT...

Where to start - Offseason Workouts

Since this thread is about the process of getting started, I want to highlight the commitment required. COMMITMENT No heroes here. You commit to change, you do it for your reasons. You do it now and don't go back. Starting out is about biting off a chewable piece, then following the 10% rule...

Ahhh Hyperbole is always fun. It usually says a lot about the person using it. Typically "diet" exists on a sliding scale from "boiled rice and starkist tuna fish" to slim jim and chocolate milk. I'm not here to tell anyone how to eat, but here are some easy guidelines that I share with my...

Where to start - Offseason Workouts

Big game seasons are winding down. Leaves are off the trees, up here in Washington State it's full-blown duck blind season. This time of year is a period of reflection for me. Sitting on the decoys waiting for shooting light, I think back to this year's bear and deer seasons, what went well for...

Typically a program that is directed at general fitness, like mountain hunting, will have you doing at least 4 hours of zone 2 cardio per week. That would be entry level. If you think about it, thats only about once per day of 30 minutes. Sucks to say, but you really cant count hikes for this...

Rokslide 2024 Youth Photo Contest sponsored by Western Edge Gear

Our 7 year old followed his older brother's footsteps and finished his hunter safety in July. Opening of grouse season in Washington State and we hit the trail in the dark. After climbing over 1,500' of elevation, a heavy, thick fog was set in on the ridgetop. The sun was clearing and this bird...

    What to say!

I love getting out with my kids. My 7 year old finished his hunter safety this summer. Last month he killed his first grouse! It was a highlight moment for me. We hunt them up on an alpine ridge, just below tree line and he shot it as the sun was coming up. Its a hump to get up the hill but...

    beginning training

This is fantastic. Nothing better for you than to start investing time and energy in your health. One thing to keep in mind as you begin: nothing moves if you dont. Early in your journey, seek to change lifestlye habits that have you sitting, riding, or watching. Choose options that get you up...

    Normal Adjustments to Clean Eating?

I have a bunch of buddies who are in the same boat you are. Professionally I am strength and conditioning coach, currently I work for an NHL team full time. I have put together a couple of programs that are, I hope, pretty easy to follow and perfect for goals like what you are working on. You...

    Normal Adjustments to Clean Eating?

20lbs is a huge achievement, you should be stoked on that. As for the diet, you are eating a lot of dietary fat. All the meats and yogurts and butter are going to contribute to the hot trots on the can. That said, you don’t need to stop eating them. Maybe just shoot for a little more balance...

DIY Repair - stripped stabilizer threads

Not sure, but user error is my best guess. I would bet it got loose and I kept shooting, not having checked. The thread wear was right at the front, top and bottom threads. Almost like the recoil from the shot caused the stabilizer to vibrate up and down. The steel stabilizer just chewed away...

DIY Repair - stripped stabilizer threads

New bow hunter here. I picked up this Bear Legit RTH from Cabela’s about a year ago as a way to get my feet wet in archery. 29 1/2” draw, 70lb draw weight. Killed a few grouse with it, didn’t end up getting out for Elk season. Plans changed when I was invited to spend a week on the Kenai Fly...
