WTS Swarovski EL 8.5x42 near new, $1750 firm shipped/insured

LINK Bought these new in 2023 and Zeiss to compare, all of my thoughts and discussion of use in post #57 in the link. Objectively better glass than the Zeiss, but beyond my needs. Some time on a tripod, and a day of use from a padded enclosed harness. Not registered, includes all factory...

    Tripod basics?

Emailed vortex, sent the tripod in for service. Came back as it was brand new and I asked for a mounting plate - they sent one.

Zeiss SFL a year later? How do they stack up?

Well, I bought a pair of SFL’s and EL 8.5x42 And took them both to Idaho on an archery hunt along with an old pair of low end vortex just as a comparison. Everything is this thread - the 2023 update from my original “test” (I use that term very loosely) and the SFL/EL thoughts are post 57...

UPDATE a year later “Are alpha worth it?” How I answered it for me (answering?) Swaro, Zeiss, GPO…Maven

Wow, thanks Robby. I’m just a hack but happened to be in a place where I could purchase both and see what I thought. (That means my wife was okay with it.) I guess the real benefit is just another real world comparison and opinion that continues to prove what most people agree on. The alphas...

Sell Swaro EL for Zeiss SFL? Crazy?

There’s zero chance you won’t be happy with them. Funny, I just did the same as I boxed them up and yeah, they’re wonderful binos. The reputation is deserved. Yeah I don’t think I’ve personally tried any that are as no kidding 100% clear to the edge like Swaro. (Disclaimer - I haven’t tried...

Sell Swaro EL for Zeiss SFL? Crazy?

I just updated my post from last year - this year I bought brand new EL 8.5x42 and SFL 8x40 and took them both hunting. It’s a tossup to me for 8’s, have a read if you’re interested in what I saw. This topic is post 57 on page 3...

Say what you will about Vortex

I hear this, but relative to what? I used it - but it was 11 years later when I sent them in because there was so much trash in an eyepiece I just wanted them serviced and they sent me new ones because I had them so long they were discontinued for a newer model. Which they gave me. If that’s...

UPDATE a year later “Are alpha worth it?” How I answered it for me (answering?) Swaro, Zeiss, GPO…Maven

UPDATE/ADDENDUM 2023 - I took what I learned from this comparison, and purchased new Swarovski EL 8.5x42 and Zeiss SFL 8x40 and took them to Idaho for a September archery hunt. Since these are not apples and oranges to the original writeup, I don’t intend to blur the two, but I would personally...

    The Shoot2hunt Podcast

Same as wearing mirrored sunglasses so my wife doesn’t see what I’m looking at when we’re at the beach. I know “teeka” is wrong, but I do it anyway.

Fletching jig that works (consistently?) And fletching 101 for me, apparently.

They move about 70 degrees from full open. Dunno, man, they can move quite a bit in mine. I could fit 3-4 vanes in each slot. They aren’t exactly snug. Cool. I don’t know what to tell ya. For many they work well. For many others, they don’t. Mine looked like the vane slots were cut by a drunk 5...

Fletching jig that works (consistently?) And fletching 101 for me, apparently.

Haven’t tried that one. If I can’t get the Bitz dialed in with a new clamp all bets are off.

Glad you got a good one. The concept seems awesome, it sold me. Mine wouldn’t hold a vane, and if it did on occasion then one was misaligned 3/4 of the time. It’s in the trash.

Iron Will Vane - Personal Feedback

Yeah, update from me as well. I ended up tinkering a bit because I couldn’t help it, and my hunting arrows for next month are dialed. I fletched a few with the IW vanes on a Bitz with the helical clamp versus the mini max. That made a WORLD of difference. They are far quieter, still mixing...

Fletching jig that works (consistently?) And fletching 101 for me, apparently.

Small breakthrough. My helical clamp is still a little jacked, but going back with the no pen vanes, no prep, and a quick review of one of Dudley’s vids and I got what I wanted this afternoon. (Oddly enough - not his how-to vid but a different one that I paused a few times to really see how the...

Fletching jig that works (consistently?) And fletching 101 for me, apparently.

Addition - right now I only have two bottles of TAC glue and prep pen. One older bottle of glue (1 year) and one about half that. Prep pen is new as of Friday. I think I’ll grab some regular super glues from Lowe’s and try it. I said I’d never pay that much for a jig, but maybe I’ll have to...
