My wife uses the 143 ELDX out of a 6.5 Creed.
She's taken two bull elk,1 cow elk, and 1 mule deer buck with it since she started using them.
First bull, 290 yards, one shot in the spine and top of lungs, dropped and died right away.
Cow, 280 yards, right through the heart, died after she ran...
Depends on comfort level, and the amount of moisture you might encounter. I've found a lightweight rain shell to be enough for me with my layer system, even in 2nd season. Softshell would give more insulation against cold probably.
Hey folks,
Anyone have any experience with German Precision Optics, specifically the binos in the field? Looking for a new set and trying to distinguish between these and a few from Leupold.
Haven't been able to find many different reviews on the 10x42 and or the 10x50s.
Thanks for any...
Anywhere here in CO can have bad weather in 2nd rifle. Could also be north of 70 degrees sometimes. In 2020, a huge blizzard came through the area my brother was hunting and it dumped 3 ft in a day and a half.
So I'd say definitely be prepared.
Insulated boots really just come down to...
Anyone got a favorite Euro mount hardware they like to use? Will be mounting mostly elk and deer.
I'd like it to have a low profile, the mount is what I'd like to see, not the hardware.
Found a trail cam on a tripod laying over on its side next to a well used wallow one time while elk scouting.
I picked up the tripod and made it stable, then left it alone.
I guess I should clarify-between 2nd and 3rd season I'd almost always pick 2nd. 1st is a different hunt and not otc ; sometimes you could end up in a low pref point unit and it's just like otc in terms of pressure.
Hunted otc mostly for about 10 years in CO. Biggest thing to deal with by far is the pressure. Obviously you've probably seen some of this in Archery as well, and now CPW is making changes to otc.
3rd season in my opinion is a better overall season. More likely to get weather and have it...
