Antlerless Hunting - Cows w/ calves, Does w/ fawns...

Do my best to shoot a cow or doe with no fawns or calves. Can be tough to find a dry cow later seasons.

CO point holders: how have you changed your draw strategy?

OTC will likely be going away, at least archery OTC. It's either going to be OTC archery gone for NR, or gone for both NR & R. This will increase the amount of point creep in lower point units and neighboring limited units as well. However, the changes that will eventually take place from...

    143gr ELD-X Unreliable?

My wife uses the 143 ELDX out of a 6.5 Creed. She's taken two bull elk,1 cow elk, and 1 mule deer buck with it since she started using them. First bull, 290 yards, one shot in the spine and top of lungs, dropped and died right away. Cow, 280 yards, right through the heart, died after she ran...

Colorado 1st or 3rd Rifle - Opinions Needed

I actually was unaware of that. When did they implement those seasons? I guess it's just a personal preference or opinion, I like the idea of giving the animals a break. Montana doesn't have near the population nor the amount of round the clock pressure on the animals.

Colorado 1st or 3rd Rifle - Opinions Needed

I respectfully disagree. As you are well aware of, there is a huge amount of pressure on these animals. 24/7 365 recreational pressure. Add to that list the insane sustained hunting pressure through Sept, then all the rifle seasons. These animals need somewhat of a break. I'm all for...

Rain Jacket or Softshell, 2nd Rifle Colorado?

Yea, I even have to layer less than you while moving. I've found first lites Sawtooth hybrid jacket to be great for me, with just a wick underneath it. Nice and temp regulating, and can still put a rain shell over it if stationary and glassing.

Rain Jacket or Softshell, 2nd Rifle Colorado?

Depends on comfort level, and the amount of moisture you might encounter. I've found a lightweight rain shell to be enough for me with my layer system, even in 2nd season. Softshell would give more insulation against cold probably.

    German Precision Optics Question

Hey folks, Anyone have any experience with German Precision Optics, specifically the binos in the field? Looking for a new set and trying to distinguish between these and a few from Leupold. Haven't been able to find many different reviews on the 10x42 and or the 10x50s. Thanks for any...

Petition - OTC for Colorado Residents

I'd like to see OTC gone for both res and non res, rifle and archery, but at the very least limit OTC non res and cap res OTC

Petition - OTC for Colorado Residents

The bottom line is the animals are a dwindling resource. Whether you are a non res, or a res, something has to be done. We've seen a huge population boom in CO the past few years. What comes with that is a huge increase in 24/7 365 recreation in the outdoors. We put pressure on these...

How much hunting does your wife let you get by with?

It's great when couples are willing to go do things together. My wife started hunting with me after we got married. It's great. Wouldn't have it any other way

    Reluctantly Obliging Matt Rinella

Understandable. I find the pacing of the Hunt Quietly podcast tough to listen to as well. He did clarify on the next episode, at the beginning that he was joking.

    Second season Colorado gear suggestions

Anywhere here in CO can have bad weather in 2nd rifle. Could also be north of 70 degrees sometimes. In 2020, a huge blizzard came through the area my brother was hunting and it dumped 3 ft in a day and a half. So I'd say definitely be prepared. Insulated boots really just come down to...
