Vortex Viper 3-9x40 - worth the sale price ($199)?

I have been very pleased with mine over the past year. I’ve compared it with much more expensive scopes and haven’t been disappointed. Would I like more magnification, of course, but for the weight and my hunting style it’s more than enough scope. Solid scope out to 300+ yards for me.

    Wool sock recommendations?

Alpaca wool socks, you won't go back to lesser materials.

    Which Garmin tracking/training collar?

Alpha 100 for two years with almost daily use. I even purchased mine refurbished. Hands down the best system I have used (compared to DT systems and sportdog setups). One minor gripe, I would like a better way to know the dog is on point without using a beeper collar so I am considering a bell...

    Lowa Tibet Review

With the discounts, I figure if I can get two years out of the tibets I will be ahead of the game. I tend to wear boots out, example Salomon or keens, in a year on the trails and they are not cheap. Figured I would buy once and cry once for a few years anyhow

    Lowa Tibet Review

Just wanted to share my experience with Lowa Tibet hiking boots. I recently purchased a pair during the REI 20% off sale after reading reviews for months and trying on various boots in stores. I can’t say enough good things about these after 50 miles on them. They were quick to break in I...

    Sleeping pad insulation longevity

I have a sleep pad that is approaching 35+ years old and still gets used. My newest pad is 20 years old. All thermarest brand. These have been stored properly and still continue to work great. I have used all in temps around 10 degrees without issue.

If you had $600 what muzzleloader would you get?

Man, that is a shame, one of my favorite rifles price to performance standpoint. Disappointing. Oh well, I think I paid less than $130 for mine with rebates and have had it many years.

If you had $600 what muzzleloader would you get?

Easy, Thompson center impact. Same barrel as higher end models, light weight, excellent trigger and leaves extra money in your pocket for accessories and powder. Absolute tack driver at 100 yards. Sub moa all day with a scope.

First Time GSP Owner Looking for Advice

You’ll get a lot of advice, there is a difference between stay and whoa. Truly any command should imply stay. Meaning if you say sit, that is all that is needed. When you back away the dog should remain with that sit command. Now, a high energy breed like a gsp will need this command reenforced...

    Best upland bird vest?

Not sure if it was mentioned but a Browning Bird n' lite is a great vest with a built-in waist belt to take load off your shoulders when carrying several birds. They can also be had for around 50 bucks on sale. It includes water bottle pockets, chest pockets and your standard shell holder front...

    Bird dog help

Check out standing stone kennels YouTube channel. They have a long multistage process that looks very good. I read many sources before committing to force fetch and mixed some techniques as I went along. I believe the e-collar, for myself, was the best approach. My dog always wears an e-collar...

    Sold Assorted .308 Ammo

You should try Remington core lokt 150 grain if you have not, that has been the best in my Tikka T3x lite stainless 308. Its a tack driver with core lokt or umc fmj 150 gr. I also had great luck with federal power shok 150 gr. Winchester 150 gr was terrible. GLWS

    I love cheap arrows

A lot of us I presume purchase blank shafts, fletch the arrows, cut to length and tune them ourselves. I too prefer basic tools like a Dremel and file. I go one step further and make sure the ends are square using a fine file and a flat surface with a simple hole drilled to feed the shaft...

Fixed Pin or Moveable, 1st Time Elk Hunter

I have never personally elk hunted (man i hope to soon!) but on whitetail and other game I have never had an issue with a single pin spott hogg. I put a white mark on the blade below the illuminated dot for 30 yards. I can now set my sight for 20 and be ready at any moment for 30. This works...
