I got my first one this year. Went to the Trinity Alps end of September and at 6200’+ we saw minimal sign and no bears. Went out in late October with my cousin who had cameras in some oak patches at 3600’ and I tagged out in a few hours and saw 5 bears.

Shots fired! I was listening to the most recent JVB podcast, which is a Q&A and a guy wrote in talking about practicing with smaller calibers and slowing working up. Then mentions the small caliber “fad” and brings up “theres a guy who wants to shoot a giraffe with a 6mm” lol wonder who he was...
Got my first bear today (sow), saw another sow with two cubs and then saw this one with another bear. They were definitely enjoying the acorns. We were around 3500’.

I would look in lower elevations where there are oaks. I was up there the end of September at 6k’+ and didn’t see much. My cousin has some cameras (not in the Alps) in the oaks at lower elevations and they are all over in there.

Ya thats what I figured. There were definitely a few still hanging around but most had moved lower, maybe opening weekend a guy could have luck that high, but I wouldnt recommend it past that.
Well I'll add my experience to the thread. Just got back yesterday after spending 3 days in there. Went with two buddies one had a deer and bear tag while I had just bear tag. Hiked in 9 miles and never saw much sign. One of my buddies went in the the area the first week of August and saw...
Like others have said the elevation doesn’t matter as much for the deer. I’m hunting the alps for the first time this year with some buddies and I’m trying for a bear. One of them scouted the area around the first of August and was seeing bear sign at around 6400 ft. We’ll be going in there in 3...
Depends on how often and how much weight you tow honstley. I used to have an 06 F-350 Powerstroke that was tuned, loved the truck. Wife and I had our first kid and sold it 6 years ago. Just bought a 22 F-150 Tremor and LOVE it and i was a diesel fanatic before. I had to ask myself if I really...
You can do it on Google Earth too, but it seems you’re good to go now. I’ll have to check and see if it works for me now.

Can’t speak for the Raptor as I haven’t driven one, thought about getting one and then Tremor caught my eye. Looked in to them more and bought a fully loaded ‘22 with 34k in May. The truck rides great (even the wife likes it). It’s a little more suited for hunting and trails vs the Raptor ( more...
Got this one a week or so ago and put it up in my yard to get familiar with it today. Lots of tie off points. Came in a hair over 2lbs, I think online it said it was 1.8lbs...
