If you really want it then go do it. But it’s a multi year thing. I know a few guys have gotten it done in those units. I’ve heard the average is 7 years before filling a tag if you hit it hard. I know one guy it took 6 or 7 years and the other it took 3. They basically gave up archery elk and...
For wet conditions what he is saying makes sense. Having hunted with wet feet a lot, leather boots just don’t dry. I haven’t hunted much in synthetic boots. May be worth a shot. I would think in really cold temps, leather is still better. But when it’s really cold, you also don’t need to worry...
I wanted to like the trackers, don’t think I’m quite ready for them. Felt a lot of rocks through them. But, I’m in pretty rocky terrain. Ended up with Lems summit. Really liked them.
In summary, it’s not a one size fits all situation. There are exceptions, but I do believe being in a flexible boot is better for most people the majority of the time.
Good response. Exo addressed this in their podcast as well. Making the point that the majority of hunters don’t need a stiff boot 90% of the time. Heavy pack on steep terrain is the exception. However that is not even close to the majority of the average hunters time. His point, is it’s better...
Thought others looking for a zero drop boot may be interested in these. BLUF: they are great for me.
I got these in the mail the night before 6 days of elk hunting. I put 60ish miles on them in a week in mountain terrain.
I was pleasantly surprised at them.
Traction and tread: very good...
Update: it’s been a year now. Stretching got rid of it in my right foot pretty quick. Left foot has been a battle. Best thing so far seems to be switching to zero drop boots and shoes. Seems to slowly be healing. Trying not to hold my breath.
I did just hunt a hard 6 days. Covered over 60...
I guess I should have specified, im not trying to lose weight, just trying to improve general health by staying away from processed foods, unhealthy sugars, etc.
So my family is working on our health: cutting out processed foods and store bought breads. I’ve discovered this has wiped out many of my go to snacks for hunting.
What snacks do you health nuts use in the woods that are palatable and high energy? They also must not spoil quickly for backpack...
Just jumped on a pair of Vivo tracker 2s. First dive into Vivo boots. Opted to go with them over the forest esc due to the waterproof and the price. Hopefully a good choice.
