Glad you made the right decision and didn’t push too far trying to recover the goat. The mountains here are no joke and sometimes it’s impossible to get a visual of the entire route to recovery due to the terrain without spooking the animals. I appreciate your honesty regarding the guilt from...

Unit C by Makaha on the map at the bottom of the page. There’s some old videos on YouTube of a guy heading to the access point. I believe he was bow hunting so same place, different months. Be wary of the rock here, it’s not solid, and tends to...
Disconnect switch (Blue Seas, Perko, etc.) will save you the headache of chasing down a small parasitic load. Also, agree that you shouldn’t have too much drain on lead acid batteries but that’s under optimal conditions. If you have the charger then might as well use it if you can. Better to...
Hunting - enough to keep the freezer stocked
Fishing - enough to feed the crew, neighbors, and family.
Glad my wife likes venison and fresh fish so I rarely get any pushback on hunting/fishing plans
Late reply (I almost never check this forum) but good call on not forcing yourself to recover the goat.
The rock here isn’t as solid as the mainland so you can’t trust it to hold in areas where there aren’t established trails. Firsthand experience/more data helps so might be worth it to keep...
Oahu resident here. Access isn’t great and a lot of the guys that hunt are asked to do eradication by various landowners/farms so I can see how it’s a pain for non-residents to hunt on Oahu.
Big Island probably has the most options for self-guided though you do get a shot at axis on Lanai.

Use a wire coat hanger and bend it to prop open the bladder so it dries thoroughly after cleaning with your choice of natural/commercially available concoction. Also stuff a couple paper towels inside to soak up moisture. Remove the paper towels before storing for long periods of time.
College grad here. I won’t say it’s overrated if you get a degree in a useful field but many kids go through college without a plan or any ambition/goals. It’s pretty common when a graduate with debt enters the workforce and makes a good amount less than those who went to trade school. The major...
New member from Hawaii. Looking to learn from all of you since we’re pretty limited in hunting opportunities/gear out here. Thanks for all of the advice in the past (when I was a lurker) and apologies if I ask repeat questions (will try to search a bit before posting).
