I've only owned one 7.3L, a 1995. It was a work truck from day one and had the crap kicked out of it regularly. The body was falling apart, but the engine/drivetrain was solid. A bit leaky thanks to poor maintenance for years, but still solid. If the right one came along some day, I'd buy...
The quality/reliability differences between Ruger and Tikka that I know about aren't a function of round count. Feeding problems, roughness, large manufacturing tolerances, flimsy stocks, etc. don't really become more significant problems as rounds increase.
There may be problems I don't know...
Pin and weld would be the only way I would consider it - probably thread for a set screw and weld it in place. Even then, I can't imagine you'll get away with zero distortion. Most of my experience is heavy structural steel, so I could be totally wrong, but I wouldn't start with a barrel I...
I just removed the spring completely from my Gen 1. Massive improvement. I may pick up the M-Carbo spring just to have something in there, but I haven't seen the need yet.
I would go 20ga for sure. I only enjoy the 410 as a novelty, and 12ga doesn't offer enough extra to justify the kick and carry weight. Those are just opinions, so do whatever you want with them.
Around here, many of our public hunting grounds are non-toxic shot only regardless of your target...
I kind of don't want to know how nice a good gun is. I bought a Ruger American Predator a couple years ago, and it was so much nicer than the old Savage 110 I had been shooting before I couldn't believe it. It feeds so much more reliably and feels way more high quality. Would I like to...
I was able to track down a 6x in MOA in a couple weeks. It wasn't my first choice, and I probably overpaid a little bit, but I am sick of the feeling of uncertainty surrounding crappy scopes.
Weim's are a tough breed to figure out for me. Most of the ones I have been around are really soft thanks to a long history of showing. Every now and then, I'll be around one that comes from hunting lines and is much sharper and more committed to whatever they're doing. I like those better...
I just did one on a Ruger American last night. Very simple. I used the Tikka template and drilled a couple holes oversized so it would all line up. I can just barely get the bolt in and out without needing to adjust the cheek rest. I'm happy with that. Hopefully I'll get a chance to shoot...
Thanks for posting this. I've been rocking yoga mat and Coban wrap for a couple years. This is cheap enough to be worth trying. Bought one for my Ruger.
We cube all our grind meat and freeze it in 1-2 lb packs. We just use Saran wrap and butcher paper. We grind immediately before cooking. We started doing it this way because we only own a little KitchenAid meat grinder, and I'm not patient enough to grind more than 5 lbs. It works good, so I...
I was a CWI, 99% in the shop, almost never inspecting in the field. I let my certs expire because I went 2 years straight without needing it, and I don't expect to need it again. It was a stepping stone of sorts for me. Feel free to contact me with any questions.
We do a few of the items on your list. It is profitable, but probably pays us below minimum wage. If you're interested in unconventional products or methods, you should try to figure out dollar potential per acre and try to get a grip on the amount of effort each option requires. This will be...
