    T1x scope mount?

Picatinny rail with 20 moa and good rings like Warne mountain tech. Area 419, EGW, and others make 20 moa pic rails for the T1X.

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

Shot a forked horn Black Tail Deer with my RSS. 18” barrel. Factory ELD-M 73gr. 95 yards. My kid spotted it and it was the first big game kill for me with the .223. It worked great! First shot hit low (shot just under the body and blew out the off side leg). My scope was foggy from a shit of...

My gear/pack layout from base layers to binos

@Formidilosus Would much change for a wetter environment say the PNW coast range or fall when it tends to be stormy or rainy with temps stable in the 50-60s with very heavy brush and brambles?

    Tikka 223 magazine feeding issues

I have the same issue. Stretching the springs helps for a while. At first only the extended mags gave me trouble but now even the standard 4 round mags do it. I have two of them and both have failures to extract the round from the magazine when running the bolt fast or slow. I checked for...

    Moving to Oregon from CA

I grew up in Alaska and went to school in CA before moving to Oregon. Lots changing here obviously. Cost of living is going up fast. Crime is rough in the cities (Portland metro, Salem, and Eugene). Oregon is beautiful and there are lots of opportunities to hunt and fish. I know it’s not as...

    Tikka 223 magazine feeding issues

Mine have had problems out of the package, but only the 6 rounders. Usually it’s the last three rounds. I stretched the spring and it helped some (reduced the feeding issues by about half). I will have to try squeezing the feed-lips and filing the back block too. Mine has the issue that the...

    Small form factor tourniquet

SOF-T wide. The older model can be setup much flatter due to its design. I was an EMT for awhile and taken many a TCCC courses and the SOF-T wide was the best for thighs and flat pocket carry. CAT is good but can break and is a little bulky. The Sheriff’s Office I work for and all the local EMS...

New Tikka Rifles Shot Show 2024

I can’t say I’d run out and buy one for $1200, but I am glad they are even offering an iron sight op. Glad they shortened up the barrel and threaded at least for a .223 and .308 option. Enlarged bolt knob is kinda nice I suppose. Fluted bolt is not as cool for the debris factor, but I know...

    I just checked. It’s 24.0 grains.

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

I have. Accuracy was very good! 10 shot group under 1.5 MOA. I believe it was 26.0 grains seated to 2.26 coal, LC brass, CCI400, but I will need to check my notes again to confirm the charge amount. I did not get to check velocity.

    Rokslide Special 223 recipe

Most reloads with recycled LC brass I am loading for about $.65 per if I’m not buying brass. If I am it’s Starline brass and the total loaded is $.90 per. For powders, I would get 8208XBR, AA2520, Power Pro 2000MR, Lever Revolution, Varget, or TAC. There are of course others but I generally...

    downsizing bullet to reduce recoil

I downloaded some 125 nosler BT and SST for my kiddo to shoot. Got speed down to 2,300 fps. But in all honesty, going with a bolt .223 and shooting was significantly better for so many reasons. There are some good recoil calculators out there that help give an idea of the reduction from just...

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

Tikka compact T3X in .223 is the way. Usually around $750. Get it threaded for $100-$150. You can get a stainless tikka and get it cut and pick up a compact stock but it will be more money. I’m super curious about those ELD-X. Seems like it won’t work in factory tikka mags or AR mags...
