I have a few hunts similar to what you describe. If you're burning through a couple miles or more of steep incline to get to your spot there is no avoiding serious sweat. I'll start out with a sacrificial t shirt then ditch it at the top to grab on the way back. After air drying for a few...
I intended on buying a Cordura one all along until I found the combo deal. You can do better than retail prices... Just check out Cameraland right now.
I'd suggest some kind of protection to prevent scratches. Some just wrap it with athletic tape as an inexpensive and effective option. I've used the stay on cover for my 554 for a couple years. It works great. The eyepiece cover acts as a hanging pouch to store the lense caps in while glassing.
Clearcuts in the summer are great times to spot blacktail bucks in an area. They're in velvet and fur is more red/brown than grey and easier to spot. I like hiking up to a high point where you can see multiple cuts and glass the timber edges in the evening.
For cams, best action has been trails...
I'd go with the Razor 56mm. Seems to get positive reviews for a little spotter at that price point, especially if you can find one discounted. I have the Kowa 554, but the little Razor is intriguing.... center clarity is comparable with a bit wider FOV.
Sounds like both Ollin and Magview have adapters that are close enough, with the help of some layers of electrical tape. The Scopecam with Mag plate kit is intriguing too, as it can be adjusted for different scopes/phones.
Did you find something for your little Kowa? I'm interested in Ollin but it appears they only offer an adapter for the TE-11WZ 25-60 spotters, not the 553/554.
Slik 634 with Wiser Precision pan head. Right at 2.5 lbs. It extends tall enough that I can glass with binos or straight spotter while standing. I'm happy with it as a lightweight, versitile setup.
