I never have herniated a disk but I had fractured a few vertebrae, L3 and L4. Current pack is the Kifaru duplex frame, and the discontinued straitjacket. I often spike camp with my gear in a camp bag, dump that and the straitjacket is super small. Day hunts I can carry really odd shaped gear...
Little late but...
I hunted with a friend who repackaged his mountain house meals in zip locks. He placed the plastic bag with the food still in the bag in an extra titanium cup, then poured the hot water in from his jetboil. No clean up needed.
I have a Mossberg 500 bantam 410 that my son's been able to run well since he was 8 and the stock has fit him well.
He's 11 now and can handle 20 ga, but if I were to get him a 20 ga at that age I'd get a compact semi auto.

My run and gun mirror setup. Will animals spook seeing the mirror? No. Will it reflect sunlight? Yes.
What you don't see infront of the blind where I'm setup is brush leaning against it. That keeps the blind from moving and adds depth to what its next to. Its leaning...

Eventually I'll put a Nightforce on it, but the only rifle hunt I had this year I felt the 300 WSM would do well on was for caribou, and 10x did just fine.
I've had a Evo XF 30" and now have an EC2 Omen, and I really like the new EZ220 shim system. It was a lot of work to swap shims on the Evo XF axles, now simply pressing and using the shim tool to shim the cam adding up to the '220' makes quick and easy work to tune the bow. I do kind of miss...
I'm liking that bow or perhaps the Evolve 30 DS. Currently have an Omen with EC2 cams, love the new shim system. That bow is a tack driver and I love the Pic rail sight mount, just would like another 30" ATA bow again...
HD has better glass.
I’ve mostly used this 10x for new rifles to sight in and see if I’m going to keep the rifle or not. It’s still sitting on my 300 WSM I used it to kill a caribou in Alaska, it worked just fine, but if I were to hunt more often with it I want a variable power scope or a 6x...
I've tested H4831 SC, H4350 in my 300 WSM with 180 grain, and found a little tighter groups with H4350 and a tad more speed. I use Norma brass. Highly suggest you get a drop tube to fill the cases with powder. I've had better results with Federal 210 primers, but I dont have many, so I use...
PSE Omen EC2 cam.
At 27.5” draw, 69# I’m getting 287 fps with 430 grain arrow. Loving the EC2 cam, buttery smooth draw cycle and decent speed too.

Simple. Drive to Walmart and get the intek usb powered air mattress pump. Then 1’ of gas line at Ace, a hose clamp and for $16 you have a pump that’s controlled by a usb power bank. I live in Texas where lately it’s been 95-110 the last month and that pump helps a lot.
