I have used the same set of Black Ovis for a few years now. Been pretty happy with them but cannot say I have tried many others as I just have not seen a need to switch.
+1 on Lowa. The wide renegades are my go to for any hunt where I do not expect snow or super wet/ boggy terrian. For snow and wet hunts I have had good luck with the old Cabelas Meindl Perfekt hunters though I do not think they still make them at least not like they used to.
Have used Turo before in Alaska. Had a pretty good experience we had a few minor issues off the bat but nothing we could not fix in the few hours we had between hunting party member arriving at airport after us. I would suggest reading reviews carefully and then just being honest with the owner...
Like others have said I have shot them in earth tone plaid but lately have been using Sitka core light weight hoody in open country but that has not been for the camo as much as I like how the shirt functions in sun and heat.
Seems like antler growth is really ahead of schedule by a few weeks in some areas, hopefully weather cooperates and it ends up being a nice year for antler growth,
I made one myself a few years ago. I believe the YouTube video that explained the process was something called the “Freecoy” or something to that effect I’ll see if I can find the video later. I used thin panel board and then cut into small segments and reassembled infield using a few nuts...
I have black Ovis and really like them. I had a little issue with the top not cinching down quite enough when we had to wait a few days to be flown out in Alaska. We ended up using string to tie them up which was fine but since then I carry rubber bands for each for convenience.
