The 1 Thing You Learned- Suppressors

Dead Air also has an e-brake that can be fitted to the end of their suppressors that is supposed to reduce felt recoil quite a bit more, but I have no experience with them. They also add an inch or two to the end of the suppressor and are then fitted with the end cap appropriate to the caliber...

The 1 Thing You Learned- Suppressors

I use a brake on my 300wsm and it is great from my perspective (the shooter), but God help you if you are adjacent to me on the firing line shooting prone (or any other position within 6' or so to either side of me). A buddy and I had a blast (literally!) one day shooting that and his 6.5cm...

The 1 Thing You Learned- Suppressors

I am leaning hard towards a Dead Air Nomad Ti for calibers from 300wsm down to 223 and including 6.5. They offer endcaps as well for the smaller than 30 cal offerings. How much of a difference, I don't know for sure, but it looks like a purpose designed brake that integrates with a given...

The 1 Thing You Learned- Suppressors

Subscribed, as I am looking to acquire both a rifle and a pistol suppressor and trying to learn. I am tempted at the 30cal rifle and being able to swap it from 1/2-28 to 5/8-24 threaded barrels to cover all of my centerfire needs, but I don't want it to be a pain in the butt. I have a couple...

Talk me out of 300 WSM

Nice build! I am using the same brake and trigger in mine, went with a Bartlein fluted instead of a Proof and an AG Composites carbon fiber stock. I wanted 500-1000yd capability, so I went 24". It weighs more, but it shoot great.

    300wsm in a long action

This is partly why I am going with a long action, no restriction on cartridge length. I am loading the 200.20x to 3.090, so a short action mag will not really give me what I want with oal limitations.

Talk me out of 300 WSM

200.20x is a 200gr berger VLD hybrid bullet and I built it with a 24" Bartlein fluted barrel, 10 twist. As for the big brother WM, yes, the wsm does all that and with less powder and not having to mess with belted cases.. what's not to like?

    300wsm in a long action

Is anyone running a 300wsm in a long action rifle? I have a 700bdl clone that is setup that way and I want to convert it over to detachable magazines. I have had good luck by installing a spacer in the box mag and using a short action mag follower with the bdl setup, but... if I go with a long...

    300 wsm, what dies??

I have been using redding dies, like was mentioned, measure your fired neck to determine bushing size and bump the shoulder back a couple thou and load them up. I have had very good success with them in the wsm.

Talk me out of 300 WSM

Read the first post, not the whole thread, but... I had the same dilemma, build a long range elk rifle. It was 300wsm and it is a shooting sob as far as I am able to accurately shoot it. It was a custom rifle, so I know it's solid, but loading for the 300wsm is a dream and it's performance out...

My 300 WSM AKA (THE PUG)

Just picked some up to test out, but I had good success with the 168 Bergers I loaded up this season for my 300wsm. Love their long range performance, regardless of the weight/style of bullet. Took this decent bull at 720yds, hit right where I placed the crosshair and dropped in it's tracks...

    300wsm primer options

I loaded up 24rds to start with the CCI 34's and running a seating depth test first for the VLD's. Going to start with RL-15 and see how it does with the 168's.

    300wsm primer options

Starting to load for a 300wsm using Berger 168VLD Hunters and I have a few options for primers. What would you pick to start with? Don't have any match primers in large rifle, so I can use CCI 200 or 250's (will probably go magnum), CCI 34's or Rem 9 1/2 magnum. I'm also trying to find some 185...

    Critique My Dream

I'll take a look for sure. I do like the fact that I'm not limited by other than a standard saami throat (to start with) and my 24" bbl length. I am going to spend some time with it this summer coming up with a hunting load and I will learn a lot about it as I go. That will likely open up the...

    Critique My Dream

Short term plan is a fall hunt out west, after that I will likely at the very least, have the throat reamed to allow me to get into the heavy game with it. It may require rebarreling at that point, but I have options.

    Critique My Dream

Just had a 300wsm built using an AG Alpine hunter, 24" Bartlein 3b fluted bbl, Curtis Custom Helix action (long action) and topped it with a Leupold VX6 HD 3-18x50. Bare rifle weighs in about 7.8lbs, scoped takes it up to about 9.5lbs. Trigger Tech special, love the trigger! It is an elk rifle...

    Barrel Break in Procedure

Frank, Thank you for taking the time to educate us with your years of experience. New member and I am new to the precision bolt world but just picked up my new rifle, complete with a Bartlein 3B barrel in 300wsm. I am very much looking forward to getting intimate with this rifle for an upcoming...
