Yes, that is a tempting classified, but I may also save up some more in the meantime to score a killer deal as well, if there will ever be one. My gut tells me that I'll be happy with whatever that are suggested as a beginner for awhile, but I will likely upgrade later too. I saw a Kowa88+zoom...
Spacemaster ii is an excellent achro spotter, but it will show some colors at high magnification. I guess it all depends on what you want to do with the spotter. Some people swear by it for both wildlife observing (hunting included) and birding. If you want to get color free, bright, crisp...
choices...choices....I am going to hit myself for not getting it now later, but I have decided to give it a shot after the hunting season. Thank you so much for the heads up.
Thanks. I saw that ad earlier too. It a smashing scope, but the 14mm eye-relief seems little too tight as I wear eyeglasses. I am guessing the eye relief will get shorter at higher powers.
I feel that you should go with a better scope first instead of going with a mediocre scope and a mediocre tripod. Resale value on those mediocre items would be next to nothing. You can always start out with bean bags if you don't want to spend more as they will be sturdier than a cheap tripod...
I think for viewing, you can get by with a less sturdy tripod since some people view and digiscope with monopods. For digiscoping in low light conditions, more sturdier is better. Some people even go with a mirrorless camera and a remote shutter release to prevent vibrations (totally depends...
I heard that Nikon Monarch ed fieldscope manual says not to use the scope in the rain. Does this also apply to older fieldscope 82ed and the pentax pf series? Pentax has little yellowish hue, I heard, from the Lanthanum glass. For the Nikon, I am not sure where this saturation might come...
Thank you everyone. I'll certainly be on the lookout for great deals. For the Athlon Ares, I would have to do much more research. I believe these are pretty new as reviews about them are pretty sparse. There is currently an oldie pale green 82 fieldscope with several eyepieces on sale for...
I'll take a look at the Athlon Ares. You maybe onto something. Premium camera lens is also like that. I've heard from a wild life photographer that he bought and sold his lens for the same price after using it for a decade. Also, thank you for the pointer on after hunting season. I have no...
I am looking for one as well. My budget excludes a tripod/head. Until I find one at a good price, I am planning to use my Amazon photo tripod. Not fancy at all, but will help me get started.
I am after up to 50+ mag that can resolve details like iris of a hawk perched nearby. I am hoping that a non-alpha scope can do this with flying colors. I've heard that a good Pentax can resolve 60x just fine with the xw eyepieces. How is the color fringing on that Pentax at the highest...
I believe optical differences would be extremely subtle when comparing premium binos at low magnifications. However, I think your swaro may show more in adverse conditions (e.g. less light scatter in very bright conditions). Also, your swaro is lighter, has wider FOV, has better ergonomics...
Greetings,
I have never looked through a spotting scope before, but I know I want one. What are some beginner's selections would you recommend? My budget is like under $1k. It would be mainly used for wild life observations (e.g. hawks, vultures, deer, elks, bears) for camping trips and day...
