    Ram/hemi guys - lifter issue

Not a mechanic, but I do a fair amount of maintenance and repair on my own vehicles. I own a ‘12 ram 1500 that developed a tick. In my case it was a leaky exhaust manifold due to broken studs which seems to be very common. Hard to tell from the video how similar the noise is, but I would rule...

    Report Violations on Public Land!

Disregarding closures on public land doesn’t just leave you vulnerable to a ticket and/or vehicular sabotage, it makes it extremely easy for an agency to justify limiting access further or implementing a full closure. If there’s a motorized closure, chances are someone made that decision for...

    Elk Hunting with Newborn Baby?

Very personal decision with a lot of unknown variables. If you’re wife and you both think it’s a good idea, I would plan to hunt and keep in mind that you may need to bail. You may be able to do more than you think… or the opposite could be true depending on your situation.

    Elk vs. Mule Deer

In my opinion if you’re in it for more chance of success, I’d go rifle elk. Archery mule deer isn’t easy either, but you’ll bump up your odds of getting the freezer filled significantly this way.

    Thumb release

I hunt with a Wise Choice and wouldn’t trade it for anything. Also have pretty meaty hands. I’ve found that the Carter Evolution matches it well as far as dimensions if you’re looking for a tension release to practice with and switch off. Hard to beat that combo.

Ideas for RIP TKO Arrow Set Up

I’ve been using RIP TKO .250s with Easton HIT 50 grain brass inserts and an iron will collar. Those are very durable and effective for hunting. In my experience, the inside of the shaft needs to be lightly sanded or textured, then cleaned with alcohol for epoxy to hold well (at least the...

What's your favorite part of a hunt?

My favorite by far is when I start the truck to leave the house. Next best is when I take off a heavy pack and feel like I’m walking in space.

If you could go back and do your set up again.....

I have a VXR as well and love it. Nice bow! I’ll echo what a couple others said above and vote for the QAD rest, I just personally have liked it better for hunting. And it’s light. I have a Fast Eddie xl on mine and wish I had gone with the standard version. The dovetail really hasn’t...

    Lightweight motorcycle recommendation

In my opinion, you won’t notice the weight difference in 250f bikes unless you are racing someone on a lighter bike. Height is a different story though. It is very possible to modify suspension to have a lower stack height, but for hunting applications a more trail/enduro style bike would maybe...

    Ramblings of a moron/guide

I mean, 300 WM does kick some ass… But really anyone that can’t make the commitment to practice shooting and get in some decent shape might be going about this all wrong in the first place.

    New guy from CO

Hello from the land of OTC Elk. I’m a long time lurker and decided it’s time to start posting. This site has given me some good entertainment and even a little educational value. I love to hunt. Always preferred archery hunting but definitely look forward to carrying a rifle and shotgun...
