Installing pit zips in raincoat ?

I would do it again. My experience with rain gear is it just slows down getting wet. Either rain itself or perspiration is going to eventually make you at best very damp. Pit zips help me vent heat that prevents / slows sweating and keeps me drier. I did not have enough extended rain this year...

    Gear hits and misses

Hit: MSR Titan kettle one and only pot, cup. $5 Rubbermaid 2 pack jar with leakproof screw on lid from walmart to cold soak my dehydrated meals for an hour or so on hikes back to camp. Dump meal in kettle and warm over my stove, I was done eating before my partner started his peak refuel...

    Stone Glacier...Krux Evo vs. X-Curve

All about fit on your body, if it works well for you it works. For me when I tried the xcuve I had to hunch my shoulders forward to make contact with my back. Krux was a much better fit ON MY BACK. YMMV.

    Stone Glacier...Krux Evo vs. X-Curve

More like if you can shove your arm into the forearm or elbow area. I have a "flatter back" and when I stand against a wall my hand slides into about the begining of my palm. We all have curvature in our spines ,it is a matter of how much. X-curve is meant for people with generally more curve...

    Back Pack

I have a Stone Glacier 6900 bag on a Krux frame. Awesome pack for me. The bag has more than enough volume for 9 day Sheep hunts. Would reccomend this bag , the two side pockets and center zip access work very well. Pair it with whichever SG frame fits you the best.

Spotting scope in the 1K price range.

Way better bang for your buck than new scopes in the 1000 range. Optics are the best place to buy used . You can go far higher quality than your financial 'weight class's would otherwise allow.

    WTB Reloading Press

I would buy a used RCBS Rock chucker or JR2. A press is the main tool for reloading and not something I would want a cheap one to start. Older used ones can be found cheaper than "starter" level ones anyway. I passed on a Jr2 in a pawnshop for $75 this summer simply because I don't need another one.

    New to packs, need advise

I have a Badlads Superday in the basement that was really comfortable until I packed out the head of a mule deer . That pack would be way better with a frame sheet to stiffen it. My advice is go to a store and try some on ,preferably with weight in them and pick one that works well for you. I...

    Cook pot comparison

I have a pocket rocket deluxe, pressure regulated stoves do work better in colder weather. That said for full on Winter cold I use a white gas stove. Have not pushed the PRD to its limits yet. Coldest I have used it is right around freezing.

    Sleeping Bag?

My sheep hunting partner has the Chilcoot 15 bag. He really likes the room to thrash around and how warm it is. We are huntig Alberta in September mostly. ( Could be cold or not ) Usually it gets to freezing or below a few nights on our 9-10 day hunts. I think it is pretty hard to beat the room...
