    DIY game bags

I use 75# grain bags from the local grange. They are made out of a plastic weave and have a plastic bag liner. I take out the plastic bag liner. They weigh next to nothing, breath well, can't be beat for strength, are reusable and free.

    Washington hunting questions

Smallest state west of the Mississippi. Least amount of public ground per person... And of course, run by a communist dictator!

    Drathaar/kurzhaar owners

I've owned one (avatar), chances are I'll own another. Aloof? Oh hell yes, he was an 80# cat-dog. Did things on his terms. Was very aware of who in family he could manipulate. That said, we never had issues with other dogs. He got him as a pup when we had our Chessie and young kids 3 & 5...

Sleeping and hunting in a blind.

It's all about scent control. Figure all that out and there is really no differnce between you being in or out of your blind. Plan on using sprays, piss bottles, crap control etc...because you will absolutley be creating more scent.

Wardens have the ability to apply discretion. IMHO they should have in this case.... Hope the judge tosses it for you.

CALLING ALL 2nd GEN TACOMA OWNERS

Get a basic Old Man Emu (OME) lift with std springs. Tried and true set up. Cost about ~$1.2k. There are a few popular Bilstein setups too at the same price point. Or, hate to say it, get a fresh spring pack and shocks and add a spacer lift. I'd normally say "hell no" to spacers, but for 1%...

wolves attacking elk in wintering grounds

I tend to agree. But something seems missing in that? End hunting as a means to a gun grab maybe?? IDK...? Sierra Club types and the rest of the well intentioned but otherwise uninformed voting public are little more than useful idiots to the power with the agenda.

wolves attacking elk in wintering grounds

With all the various types of encroachment out there, there really are very few natural place left in nature today. We selectively choose to manage all sort of things from housing to roads to hunting. That we have decided not to manage wolves in any way in many areas is a head scratcher. Sure...

    Red dot on upland gun?

My hunting partner, who did not grow shotgunning, was a pretty suspect shot for years. Somehwere along the line it came to light that he was closing an eye and aiming!! Told him to cut that crap out - now he is a perfectly competent shot. I can't see how a red dot or other such sight wont...

    Investing for income?

Punching at 40! More power to you... Understand your 4% reference. The theory is that you can on average produce returns that allow you to withdraw 4% annually without ever touching principal. This assumes 4% is a reasonable target. To make the 4% model work, such that you don't get poorer by...

    Investing for income?

The 4% rule as used to estimate retirement income is outdated in consideration of how long people are living in retirement. While it makes sense to dial down risk over time/age, if you are retiring at 60 and your genes put you living into your 80s, it makes a lot of sense to be a more aggressive...

    Investing for income?

How much do you have? How much do you need to generate? What is it for? What is your risk tolerance? You need to start with these questions and go from there.

For those that carry in the backcountry....

Non hunting - just walking the woods - typically leave it at home. But that is changing with how WA is not managing predators.

CALLING ALL 2nd GEN TACOMA OWNERS

Pay special attention to tires, there is not much room there without modifying structure to prevent rubs at full turn. Generally speaking skinny 33's are about the limit without modding; 255/85/16. 265/75/16 are comfortable 32s. Lots to read on Taco World about fitting tires.

CALLING ALL 2nd GEN TACOMA OWNERS

Just make sure you think it through before you pick a lift so you can size your lift accordingly. Any other mods planned? Winches, bumpers, campers, things that add weight, etc. Be aware that a lift somewhere about 2.5 to 3 inches will require aftermarket UCAs. More info than you want located...
