Cool.. this all makes a lot of sense. Do you False shoulder all your virgin brass? Or is this only for wildcats and non factory chambers?

Would you say that Moly reduces the initial pressure spike caused by your loads being right at the lands? If you had to run naked bullets would you back them off the lands some and drop a couple of grains and start there? Also.. have you ever tried leverevolution in this cartridge? Sorry for all...

Sounds like a nice rig! Got a pic?

So if I'm understanding correctly... Moly reduces copper fouling for you, so you don't clean as often and therefore you have a more static zero? Those velocity and range numbers are certainly impressive for the case size. Would you say that you are leaning on the throttle pretty good... or are...

    The Shoot2hunt Podcast

Good one today. Could you get @Formidilosus to go over the 'good gun, average gun, bad gun' in a future podcast. I've got my head around the quick drop thing but I'm unclear how to apply the 'good gun etc.' thing to it. Thanks

@ridgeline , I was reading through this thread again since it popped back up. I'm curious... what does Moly coating bullets do for you? It doesn't seem to be a very common practice anymore. Also curious how far you've stretched your 6x45 out to with the 105's. Thanks!

I use the plastic pea less fox 40. All my kids have one attached to their backpacks should we become separated.

@Formidilosus do you think you could go into more detail about the section where you described the mental calculations for determining the mils based off of the range number for under 600 yds. Where I am I can't possibly think of any reason to shoot at an animal over 500 yds and I hate fiddling...

Equipment versus practice posts and Rifle practice/shooting

I've been trying to improve these positions as well, and honestly for me it just comes down to more rounds down range and making small changes in grip and body position until it clicks...but it definitely is frustrating until you get there

    223 powders for reduced loads?

@Trackselk . I know this is an old thread... but if your still looking for a .223 grouse load I'm using 13gr of Imr 4198 behind a 55gr hornady btsp with a Remington 6.5 primer. I generally use it as a low cost practice round but I don't see why it wouldn't do good on a grouse. I'm getting...

Nice rifles! Thanks for the ideas... both of these styles of rifles have high appeal for me.

    6x45

I should also say that this is more of a long-term project idea for me. I'm currently trying to upgrade scopes on a few rifles before moving forward with this. I still have to decide the style of rifle I think I want before trying to find a donor action. At this point I'm leaning toward a trim...

How long of a barrel are you using? Also, how is terminal performance on game with the 87gr?
  18. M

    6x45

Some of it is because of case head size. I'm partial to tikkas and they don't make a bolt with that head size. A lot of the appeal for me is that .223 brass is cheap and powder consumption is minimal even compared to the ARC. I've always wanted to mess around with a wildcat cartridge at least...

For some reason this cartridge has intrigued me lately. Those of you that have one or played with one could you post up your thoughts and experience with it? I'm most interested in performance with bullets on the heavier end (87-108gr). Actions, mags, barrels and barrel length, velocities...

.223 for bear, deer, elk and moose.

Those of you who are shooting the 75 eld-m.. what length are you seating them to that seems to be the sweet spot? They are a lot longer than the 73gr that I'm used to and seem less forgiving. Thanks!
