I hunt this season in Jefferson County every year! I personally like to go as traditional as possible. Real black powder with a patched round ball. I have a traditions ky flintlock

I have the cz bonwhite in 28. Very similar to your partridge. Solid lock up, carries and points well. My only complaint is that the triggers seem to be very heavy, even for a shotgun.

Eastern Panhandle WV
Pros: Good amount of public land within an hour. Including mountains and bluff country near rivers . Waterfowl is better than most other parts of the state due to higher prevalence of Ag and multiple rivers. Fishing is also pretty decent due to the rivers and a large lake...
As far as the 2 wma's I've hunted in WV, they both have a lot of hunter sign. Sleepy Creek WMA is big, so it had a lot more room to get away from people.

I live in the Eastern Panhandle of WV. The NF is pretty sparse of people in both states during bow. Muzzleloader and rifle can be a bit busy, but if you walk back in, you honestly shouldn't run into many people. I'm still learning how to hunt the mountains and all of the land to roam is nice...
Gutless is definitely the way to go. I'm over in the eastern panhandle or WV and am going to try and get out to the Mon during rifle. Lmk if you need help packing one out!
